Here’s an update as of 7:43 AM of the two fires impacting the Village of Ruidoso.
🔥🧯🚒🧑‍🚒👩‍🚒👨‍🚒
To the south is the Salt Fire consuming the area near Ruidoso Downs. It appears to be in about the same location as yesterday. In the middle is the South Fork Fire. It too looks to be in about the same location as yesterday. Unfortunately, reports are saying over 1,000 buildings have been burned by the fire.
☔️🌧️💧
It still looks like we can get some rain in the Sacramento Mountains today so ask for the rain to get here asap to help put out these fires!!

IMPORTANT POST! ‼️‼️‼️
This is super super important no matter where you live.
⛈️☔️🌀🌬️🌨️🌪️🔥
Yes, we have a tropical system heading into Texas as we speak, but folks up in Ruidoso could have benefitted from this. You always want to have an emergency kit ready to go! Save this post for future reference as you pack up your kit. Lonestarlive.com

Here’s an update on the South Fork Fire in Ruidoso as of 7:34 AM. The fire has overcome more parts of the village unfortunately. So incredibly sad. Keep the brave firefighters in mind as dry humidities and breezy winds will not help the effort today.

So sad to see this fire burning and spreading quickly all around Ruidoso. Here is the current location of the fire as of 9:35 PM. Looks like it already crossed the main road just south of Ruidoso Winter Park and has overcome the Alto Cafe.

Check in with the following link to keep track of the fire location. Let’s hope the tropical moisture moves in sooner rather than later, but it’s going to take a few days to get here.

It’s been one nonstop severe weather season!

06/10/2024

We could see an active season for a variety of reasons caused by La Niña.

Atlantic Hurricane season started June 1 and while there has yet to be a named storm, experts are predicting a busy year. If La Niña comes together this summer, it could mean more hurricanes for the United States and Texas. https://l.lonestarlive.com/d2PLNS

Happy Sunday! It might be a damp start- at least for the grass, but sunny skies and clouds will be what we have for the majority of the day today. This evening, rain showers will return. Watch my forecast from this morning on Erie News Now.

When your whole outfit matches!
👗👓☀️☔️
I was a little worried my new dress would key out on my green screen. When colors are too similar in shade, they start to blend and your clothing can become see through when you overlay the graphics on the screen. I was pleasantly surprised to see that was not the case for this dress.
🎥🎬✔️
I also fixed my issue with my green screen hotspot so I am feeling great this Sunday! I hope you’ll tune in to today at 8 AM, or 6 and 11 PM.

A look at the story I wrote yesterday for Lonestarlive.com. Rain gauges can only track the rain in one particular place, so there may be other locations where each city has seen much more than what was reported at the airport.
☔️⛈️💧🌦️🌈

So far this year, rainfall totals in some parts of the state have been above average, while others seem to be right on track. Here's a look at the data: https://l.lonestarlive.com/Y061vh

Nearly 600,000 Texas residents are without power after strong storms moved through northeast and east Texas. There are also folks in the Rio Grande Valley without power.
⚡️🔋💡🔌🔦☔️⛈️🌬️
With more storms expected over the next several hours, repair teams will likely have to pause work before being able to get most folks power back on. These storms have really been impactful this year. Lonestarlive.com

05/28/2024

Wow, definitely a crazy Texas radar this afternoon. As the strong storms that moved across DFW this morning are moving down towards Houston, a mega outflow boundary is moving across the entire western half of the state. The outflow boundary will likely kick off today's storms as it moves into a favorable environment.

If you don't know what an outflow boundary is, it's what storms release as they begin to weaken. Think about a storm that is pulling in wind from the surface into the cloud (in short the process that makes hail). Eventually, that storm will begin to weaken and it can no longer pull in winds from the surface, so instead, it releases it's winds to the surface, and they can go on for miles. All modes of severe weather are possible across much of the state today. Check out my latest article on the weather section on Lonestarlive.com for the details!
