Interviewed 🎤 by UNLV Medical Student and future Dermatologist, Cynthia Lee , Michael tells part of his story about having a tumor on his chest for 10 years. This massive Basal Cell Skin Carcinoma was excised via Mohs Technique. Mohs micrographic surgery is the standard of care for large tumors, it documents clearance of the tumor through microscopic examination at the time of surgery. Other options for Michael's massive tumor would have included new oral medications for basal cell cancer and possibly radiation therapy. In the video you will see a before and after image of his tumor and the subsequent scar.

What lies beneath 🤷🏻‍♂️ is many times a mystery🧐. Our patient had a painful firm mass on his posterior thigh present for years- he wanted to know what it was & he wanted it gone.

After punching 🥊 into his skin & not being able to visualize the mass, Dr. Greenberg explored the area with serial punches & dissecting scissors- when that effort failed, he created an even larger opening than the original 4mm punch & explored more. Eventually a firm fatty tumor was identified & removed 🔪 leaving a tumor free hole 🕳 . Pathology is pending, but Dr. Greenberg is betting 🎰 that this is an Angiolipoma- a benign fatty tumor with increased vasculature.
