After McKenna Silva graduates from Touro University Nevada, she aims to work in sports medicine or orthopedic surgery as a physician assistant. She offers advice for students who are considering enrolling in Touroโ€™s medical programs. ๐Ÿซ๐Ÿฅผ

โ€œMy biggest piece of advice is to allow yourself the opportunity to use the resources Touro has. Donโ€™t be afraid to check out the library, the SIM lab, or the learning center to see if something might be right for you! I am a firm believer that you will get out of school what you put in!โ€ - McKenna Silva ๐ŸŒŸ

Sonia Frick (OMSGA President) and Matthew Nguyen (OMSGA VP of Student Affairs) had the honor of representing TUNCOM and the state of Nevada as student delegates at this year's annual American Osteopathic Association House of Delegates (AOA HOD) in Chicago.

The House of Delegates consists of state delegates composed of osteopathic physicians and osteopathic medical students.

Not only did our students have an eye-opening experience, enabling them to understand the foundations of AOA policymaking and the legislative process, but they also contributed towards the passing of new AOA resolutions that will impact the entire osteopathic medical profession across the nation.

Dr. Terry Bartmus, Assistant Professor and Nevada's AANP liaison, imparts a piece of wisdom from her distinguished medical journey.

โ€Find your mentor. I have had mentors throughout my entire career that I know I can call if I am having issues, whether emotional or professional. Develop a healthy work/life balance early! Find your happy activity that can help take your mind off work. Try to spend below your means once you start making money, so you do not have to work too much! Exercise, take mental health walks outdoors, and learn to meditate! There is evidence that all of these help with daily stress.โ€

Military and HPSP students come together to collaborate during this course, sharing knowledge and building team skills necessary in medicine. Our students underwent intensive simulated training evolutions with experienced clinicians, EMS, and law enforcement in the field of military medicine, trauma, emergency medicine and surgery. Our military medical students gained invaluable skills in leadership, teamwork, and military medicine within an orchestrated chaotic environment. Our Story

Touro University Nevada was established to help address critical needs in health care and education, and as a resource for community service in the state of Nevada. A non-profit, private institution affiliated with an international system of higher education, the university opened its doors in 2004 with 78 medical students. Today, TUN is home to more than 1,300 students in a wide range of degree programs in allied health sciences and education, as well as osteopathic medicine. Many of these programs are the first of their kind in the state of Nevada.

The TUN campus is also home to both a full-service patient health clinic, staffed by practicing faculty members, and a multidisciplinary Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities.
