TAPS tuition is still 15,000 a year for dancers that are accepted into the program. Our job placement rate is still three times programs that cost way more. Some conventions offer dancers a wide variety of professional options while others pretend they are training dancers for the professional world but no one is working. The dancers just travel around the country at their own expense to be free labor for the convention. Other conventions announce “partnerships” with programs where tuition is five times as much as TAPS and dormitory rooms are three times as much as TAPS apartments. Small dormitory rooms with community showers. Our apartments have full kitchens, washer/dryers in each apartment, pools, jacuzzi’s and a full gym. Oh yeah and your own shower. It’s not even close. It makes you wonder if these partnerships are for the dancer or for the convention. Please do your research. TAPS is better, faster, cheaper with continued support and guidance through your dance career.

Ok just got a minute to breathe. Thank you to the amazing Helene Phillips who has opened and closed TAPS every year for 9 years. This amazing woman has created so many pros and I wouldn’t have done it without her here. Big thanks to the ”Big Three” Tara Foy, Tony Coppola and Steve Judkins Someone said it’s the ones that do the work every day that count the most and it’s true. You are TAPS. Big shout out to “sorority mom” Jillian Helton who does so much for TAPS and the dancers. When the employers all tell them how great they look, well Jillian had a big hand in that. Instagram, Summer Intensive, TAPS merchandise and more, all running smooth because of Jillian. Thank you. I’m also very appreciative to YEAR 9 dancers. You have worked so hard, you’re so talented and best of all, you’re great people and I can’t wait for you to call me crying and send me your new contract to read over. Thank you
Love you all!!!

TAPS does pass out scholarships at conventions and summer intensives. But if you are a dancer that hears about TAPS from a friend, alumni or just finds it on your own. I want you to know that any dancer that is accepted into the program will receive the same 3000 dollars scholarship. I think that’s fair.

I watch every class and I have for 9 1/2 years. I work with the teachers on corrections and I will occasionally advise a dancer on an adjustment. I’m there all day. You don’t have to make a 15 minute appointment to talk to me. Im here at any time. I love conventions, I think they’re fun and it’s good for dancers to have to pick up different steps and styles but very few dancers ever make it to the pros. Research it. Oh they may get a job and that’s great but not a career. I learn from the employers what they need and then I train our dancers for what they need. When the needs change, the training changes. You have to be valuable to an employer. I teach acting, marketing, business, dance history, dance research, lifts and partner work. Our dancers will study ballroom, silks and lyra. Conventions don’t do that. I watch and critique vocal, dance and acting. Very few people are qualified to do that. Our dancers are prepared for a career. Other programs can’t or won’t do that. If you ever want to know the difference between TAPS and other programs, just call or email me and I will be happy to tell you. There are reasons that some conventions had to close, there are reasons that some convention teachers are no longer able to teach or that some artistic directors were forced to resign. Be smart do your research.

TAPS is having two summer intensives this year. Come and see what a week at TAPS is really like. You will have ballet, tap, contemporary, jazz, hiphop, musical theater, ensemble voice and acting. There will be a parent seminar and an audition class which for some will be for practicing auditions and for others it will be their audition to TAPS. Notice the reasonable price and the fact that it’s 9-3:30 so the family can still have a nice getaway vacation. Go to the pool, have a nice dinner, see a show and still get to dance. 14 years old and up. Limited to 30 dancers with name tags not numbers so our teachers can really teach and your dancers can really learn. JOIN US!!!!!!!

An organization can steal my website verbatim but they can’t steal my program, my knowledge, passion or compassion for young dancers. TAPS will have a maximum of 30 dancers in a class. Why? Because my teachers and I want to teach individuals not a ballroom of dancers. When you go to a program with 160 dancers at 25,000 a year, you know where their heart is. We have 6 hours of ballet scheduled each week but in other programs you might get two technique classes a semester, hardly any tap, no voice, no real acting, business or research and you’ll be told that all marketing is done on Instagram. Not true. Combos will not get you to the pros. But they don’t care, they’ve got your money and you paid for flash, not success. At TAPS we are preparing dancers for a career, not just a job. Our dancers are in film, commercials, Equity Productions, Cirque du Soleil, have Adagio Acts and Aerial Acts. They’re versatile and valuable to an employer. They know what the job entails before they go and they know how to behave on the job. TAPS dancers sign a contract with me that says they will work hard to succeed and they will not be involved in underage drinking or drugs whether they are legal or not. We teach them how to treat the cast, act like a pro, handle their money, taxes and be an entrepreneur. We take care of the whole dancer and not just the battement. It’s why we have a 72 percent job placement and you’re basically paying for the most expensive convention of all time. Stop continuing to look for another double platinum award and make a real transition into the professional world of dance.

Tony Gonzalez from Cedar Point Entertainment is auditioning at TAPS today. Great day!!

12/21/2022

TAPS second semester will begin next Wednesday. December 28th. Why? Because there is so much going on in January and we want to shake the holiday rust off. Helene Phillips is coming. Lime Entertainment, McDonald/Selznick Agency, Cedar Point Entertainment, Tuacahn Center for the Arts and more. Not to mention our second to none regular faculty. The second semester is where the growth is incredible.
I’m ready!!!
