This specialized production course is designed to be an exploration of Cinematic Innovations– Past, Present and Future by framing the course within UNLV FILM’s Future Cinema Initiative. The purpose of this initiative is to explore the intersection of new technology with a hundred and twenty plus years of cinematic storytelling.
Learning film grammar, all aspects of the production cycle, and emphasizing the integration of digital technology in the making of the virtual/mixed reality experiences, interactive story telling and video games.
This is workshop-style class that will train students with collaborative pre- production assignments, and participate in the shooting 360 video projects and their 16x9 equivalents.
Classes will be partially taught using provided Oculus Quest 2 headsets in VR space.

Elvis Mitchell American film critic, host of the public radio show The Treatment, and visiting lecturer at Harvard University. He has served as a film critic for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the LA Weekly, The Detroit Free Press, and The New York Times. In the summer of 2011, he was appointed as curator of LACMA's new film series, Film Independent at LACMA. He is today’s Artist-in-Residence at the UNLV FILM.
Today he will discuss “Elvis Goes There” an American documentary television series hosted by Mr. Mitchell that premiered on February 4, 2019, on Epix , and today he will discuss about his in-depth interviews with the most innovative and influential people working in entertainment, art, and pop culture.

Alien: Alone — Hope, an abandoned crewmember aboard the derelict chemical hauler Otranto, has spent a year trying to keep her ship and herself alive as both slowly fall apart. After discovering hidden cargo, she risks it all to power up the broken ship in search of human life. Written and directed by UNLV alum Noah “Nr” Miller.
