Student Spotlight: Meet Mya, our Future Personal Fitness Trainer ✨

Hey everyone, I’m Mya! I’m 21 years old and originally from Stockton, California. I moved to Las Vegas around the second grade.

What inspired you to pursue a career as a personal fitness trainer?

As I was getting older, I realized how important nutrition and fitness are, and I want to help educate people and give them the tools to take control of their health.

How did you discover our Personal Fitness Trainer program at Advanced Training Institute?

My brother graduated from ATI’s Automotive Program. I explored other programs. I was leaning towards the electrical program but then found out about the Personal Fitness Trainer program, which matched my passion perfectly.

What aspects of the program have you found most beneficial?

I love our state-of-the-art gym, qualified instructors, and the constant education about fitness. We also receive free nutrition programs and workout guidance.

What are your future career goals after completing the program?

I plan to work at big box gyms, helping the community. Ultimately, I’d love to be a physical therapist, but I’ve become more interested in personal training ever since I enrolled in this program.

What advice would you give to someone considering joining the Personal Fitness Trainer program?

Just do it! You are given a one-month probation period, so if you’re interested in personal training and fitness, this is a great way to start.

How do you stay motivated and maintain a healthy lifestyle?

Each module teaches me how to build and maintain fitness and lifestyle habits, which I incorporate into my schedule.

Is there a specific niche you’d like to focus on in the fitness industry?

I’m gravitating towards mobility, flexibility, yoga, and wellness.
Fun fact about yourself?

I’m a creative person. I played in an orchestra for seven years and love anything related to art.

A special thank you to the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Inc., Las Vegas Chapter, and the Clark County School District for inviting us and allowing Rachel Bowne, Tieasha Liburd, and Sally Bemis from Las Vegas College and Advanced Training Institute to present on the potential within trades, technology, and vocational education.
