Our Story
Founded in 1992 By Pastor Kelcey West, During his undergraduate studies at UNLV, Pastor West created 32nd Street Theater a non-profit theater company in 1992. His theatrical credits as a self-taught playwright and director include "Two Sided Coins", "A Gift Called Tomorrow", "Quiet Time To Play", and "If This World Were Mine – A Theatrical Tribute to the Music Of Marvin Gaye." In 1993, he developed the now annual “Unity Through Knowledge” HBCU Tour and College Preparatory Program, which has helped more than 2,200 high school students tour and explore the academic
The “Unity Through Knowledge” Historical Black College Tour is built on an honest and dedicated foundation of providing professional, organized, and memorable trips at an affordable price. Our tours provide a college preparatory atmosphere, complete with dormitory style housing, and opportunities for our students to explore and understand travel etiquette, self-responsibility, and money management through a non-stop completely educational itinerary. Each College Tour since 1994 has been staffed with experienced chaperones solely dedicated to chaperoning the students and providing a college preparatory experience.
The tour has become an annual event, which generally takes place during Easter/Spring Break, the Tour is designed to introduce high school students to the educational objectives and opportunities of historical and predominantly black universities. Over 2200 students have participated in our college tour program with many going on to attend and graduate from an HBCU.
Our annual tours include round trip airfare, deluxe coach travel and nightly hotel accommodations. We also offer nightly college prep workshops while visiting the top HBCU's and schools in the country. (2020) THE PRESIDENTIAL TOUR:
