JD Stairs recently accepted the award for 2024 Best Production Stairway! We’re so grateful to all the team members who put in the hard work needed to build this stair.

We have the blessing of taking amazing designs and bringing them to reality. This one won the “Anything but Stairs” category at the 2024 award ceremony. We’re grateful for the design, build and winning of an award for this.

Yesterday, we had the privilege to visit Skyhook Stairs and Phoenix Design and Manufacturing to see what they are all about. They were very gracious in allowing us to come in and see how they operate. It’s amazing how you can learn so much from other companies! Everyone does things differently and you start to really evaluate your processes when you visit others. We’re grateful for other partners in the stair industry who help us out.

Introducing the Ava. One of five new stringer options JD Stairs and Sky Terra Designs are excited to announce.

Ava reinvents the classic floating stair with dynamic design. Angular steps and gesturing steel wings create a sense of movement and energy. The illusion of soaring steps is enhanced with a rising center that draws your gaze through a divided support beam. Ava is bold yet timeless.

Last week we had the opportunity to host several architects for an continuing education class on stairs. Jonathan, with the partnership of the SMA, taught about stair code and what architects should be on the look out for when designing for their projects. After the class was done, we invited them all to take a tour and see first hand what goes into the stair industry. We look forward to events in the future!

The outer stringer is up and aligned with the inner stringer. This big curved stair took a lot of effort to get everything squared away, but with great communication and team effort, we were able to get this stair ready for the next step in the fabrication process.

Everyone who tours our facility always asks “Is that a basketball court in your shop?”

A couple of weeks ago we had the privilege of hosting the JD Stairs Annual March Madness Tournament. It was a blast getting the team together to play some competing basketball and more importantly eat some great food! The CCQs took the win this year with a narrow win of 11-10! It was a thriller! Congrats to Eddie, Jairo, Austin, and Serhan. Even though Serhan didn’t play at all, he was an honorary member of the team. We can’t wait till next year to see who wins!

We said curved stairs are coming back, right? Here’s another stair we did in the Vegas valley. It’s an 8” x 8” x 3/8” tube that been curved slightly. We used our CNC to cut out the treads to match the curve of the stair so the whole bracket is wrapped.

This week we are highlight the wonderful women who work at JD Stairs for Women in Construction Week!

Brittny and Ashley work in the front office doing everything form billing, filing, and many other much needed tasks. If you call in or stop by, there’s a good chance you’ve had a conversation with either one of them. Alex works in our CAD Department with Ryan and they work together to make sure we have some of the best drawings available. Lucy and Aubrey work in the same office doing accounts receivable and HR. We’re grateful to have all of these women here at JD Stairs and the wonderful spirit they bring to the company!

It’s funny how trends come and go. Recently, we’ve seen a lot of curved metals stairs being requested. Here’s one we just installed in a commercial project and can’t wait to show you guys the final project!

Some more big stairs going in! This specific set is a switch back stair going up three flights. The sides are made out of 1/2” thick plate with 11 ga sheets bent for the steps. We fabricated everything in sections and pieced it all together with the landings on-site. We’ll share some on-site photos as it gets installed.

Update on one of our curved stairs. This one is all wrapped up from our installers. Over the course of the next several weeks we’ll be wrapping the steps in maple and leaving the stringers exposed. Later on we’ll be installing curved glass with some custom made standoffs.
