We are honored to have recognized Rayshawn Williams, a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, for his exceptional service to the nation during a Vegas Golden Knights game. Rayshawn has served two deployments to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, and he has been awarded the Combat Action Ribbon and the Achievement Medal for his outstanding service.

After completing his military service, Rayshawn joined the UNLV Military and Veteran Service Center and has been working with the UNLV Peer Advisors for Veterans Education program to assist transitioning veterans.

Rayshawn, thank you for your service!

Rayshawn Williams ‘20 ‘22 is a United States Marine Corps veteran and dedicated UNLV volunteer. He gives his time to the UNLV Veteran Voices Project, Rebel Vets student organization, and the UNLV Veterans Alumni Chapter. We’re proud to highlight Rayshawn’s volunteerism during National Volunteer Week!

“I have really enjoyed volunteering at UNLV. Volunteering creates a sense of belonging and camaraderie, and there always seems to be a reciprocal effervescent feeling at the end of a volunteer experience. Regardless of your background or purpose, if you pick up the torch and run with it without an expectation of someone looking at you, when you are ready to stop running, there will be a hand open to pass the torch to continue the run. If you look around and you feel that there is a calling to help in some capacity, ask yourself, "if not me, then who..?”

If you are a veteran and have not shared the story of your military experience, Contact Veteran’s Voice and leave your write legacy for your family and generations to follow.

They do the interview. All you have to do is show up. Bring memorabilia and your favorite stories. They will do the rest.

Update on UNLV Campus Related Activities.

“Today is a tragic day for UNLV. We're all still in shock as we process the unfathomable event. Members of our community lost their lives and others were injured. My heart aches for our UNLV family.” Message from President Keith Whitfield.

All classes and academic and academic-related activities, as well as, UNLV performing arts activities are canceled through Sunday, Dec. 10. UNLV Health (Medicine) clinical practice and dental practice will be open for patient care.

We are also working closely with law enforcement to allow faculty, staff, and students to have access to campus to pick up personal belongings and other needed items later this evening, and a notification text will be shared with the campus community.

We have been informed there will be no access to Beam Hall, the Flora Dungan Humanities building, the Student Union, Wright Hall Buildings A, B, and C, and the UNLV Book Store until further notice.

Student Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) will be providing crisis support services to students both in-person and via telehealth beginning tomorrow, Dec. 7. In addition, the Student Health Center and Faculty and Staff Treatment (FAST) Center plan to be open with full healthcare services available.

Taco Tuesday Trike & Talk TURNUP
Join “FORGOTTEN NOT GONE” at 3960 West Craig Rd. STE NLV 89032 on Tuesday, December 5th, for our FIRST Taco Tuesday, a monthly community cycling event held on the 1st Tuesday of every month! The schedule is as follows:

6:00 pm: Arrival

6:30 pm: Pedals down. Ride for 90 minutes (with a short 15-minute break)
�8:00 pm: Tacos provided
�9:00 pm sharp: Event concludes

If you’re a Veteran and wish to reserve one of our trikes, please RSVP to ensure we get you in the system.

For first-time riders, we need to verify your Military proof of Service. Please bring the appropriate documentation, such as VA ID, DD 214 with Driver’s License, or Retirement ID,
etc.
