Voice acting is a *little* more complicated than speaking into a microphone.

Just like with any new skill, don't expect to be a pro immediately! Maybe try a *couple* workshops first. 😉

This week we've got something special: a double feature starring our friend, Voicer J.R. Guzmán! First, J.R. was added to the iHeart Radio talent roster! J.R. had the opportunity to read for Producer J.J. Foxx at our very own Producer's Showcase, and afterwards iHeart signed him!

Which leads us straight into J.R.'s second VO Victory!

When you set up to record and adjust the gain or microphone volume k**b on your interface, you are gain staging. Again, when you master your audition, or read and output it, you are gain staging.

We'll learn more about gain staging in the coming weeks!

It can be really hard to describe and market your own voice. Ask coaches, peers, and friends how they'd describe your vocal tone, vocal age, or even what color your voice reminds them of!

Hello TVAS Family,

This is a difficult one to write.

While visiting my family in Illinois this past week my brother-in-law was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. It was a shock to all of us as he's a very healthy guy. He and my sister have a young family, and I'm doing my best to support them as they navigate this difficult path, to say the least.

Over the years our TVAS community has come together to help many of our Voicers who've faced tough times, and right now it's my little sister's family who needs us. If you feel it in your heart to help, I can't thank you enough - even if you're willing to share your Starbucks allowance... Every bit will make a big impact.
