A beautiful moment for us at Wee Care Pediatrics this week! One of our favorite moments is when our kiddos graduate from the practice when they turn 18.

It is a little bittersweet (we're gonna miss them!) but we are so incredibly proud and honored to see kids develop into their own person and head off to pursue bigger and greater things.

To Kenn, we are proud, amazed, and overjoyed of all the things you have accomplished and will accomplish. We're going to miss seeing you and the family at the office but we are happy in knowing that you'll be out there, spreading your wings and flying to new heights!

Meet Amanda Knowles, a Physician Assistant at Wee Care Pediatrics! 🌟

Amanda, a Las Vegas native, earned her Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies from Touro University in 2017 and has been dedicated to pediatrics ever since.

Before her PA studies, Amanda was the athletic trainer at Palo Verde High School for over four years. She graduated summa cm laude with her Bachelor’s in Athletic Training from Southern Utah University in 2010.

Her journey in physical therapy and athletic training has given her the opportunity to watch her patients grow over time.

Amanda enjoys adventures with her high school sweetheart husband, their three boys, and their little daughter. She’s also a pro at crafting family fun, decorating sugar cookies for special celebrations, and listening to podcasts or audiobooks.

Asthma is a common chronic lung disease in children, affecting about 8.4% of kids in the U.S., according to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). An asthma attack occurs when the airways become inflamed and narrowed, often triggered by pollen, dust, air pollution, or physical exercise.

If your child is coughing frequently, wheezing, short of breath, or feeling tightness or pain in the chest, it could indicate they are having an asthma attack.

Remember to stay calm and always have an inhaler on hand (if previously prescribed). If symptoms don't improve after treatments, you may need to seek medical help.

Be aware of the dangers of heat exhaustion, especially in the brutal Las Vegas heat!

Heat exhaustion occurs when the body overheats due to prolonged exposure or exertion in high temperatures. If not treated, It can progress and cause serious damage to the brain and other vital organs. This is called heat stroke.

Symptoms and signs of heatstroke can include a body temperature of 104°F or higher, hot, red, dry, or damp skin, rapid pulse, headache, dizziness, confusion, nausea, vomiting, and fainting.

Here’s what to do if you suspect your child is suffering from heat exhaustion.
1⃣ Move to a cool place immediately.
2⃣ Hydrate with water or a sports drink.
3⃣ Cool down with damp cloths and ice packs or a cool bath.
4⃣ Seek medical help if symptoms persist or worsen.

The recent measles outbreaks in parts of the U.S. can understandably cause concern for your family’s safety and well-being.

Measles is a quick-spreading childhood virus. But there’s good news!

The measles vaccine is highly efficient and safe, with a full dose proving 97% effective. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends vaccinating children between 12 to 15 months of age. Teens and adults should also be up to date with their vaccines.

Protect your family and community by staying informed. Here are 3 things you need to know about measles:
1️⃣ Symptoms: High fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and rash.
2️⃣ Prevention: Ensure your children are vaccinated with the MMR vaccine.
