🏋🏼Low Back Pain during Hip Thrusts?🏋🏼
If LOW BACK PAIN during barbell hip thrusts are keeping you from going heavier on your sets, you may be overextending your low back and pelvis! Again - bringing it back to PELVIC NEUTRALITY, try to maintain it at the top of your thrust.
Set yourself up for those by finding pelvis neutrality during the exercise. Like we mentioned before, it may feel like your range of motion is a little more limited, but you should be feeling the contraction in your glute muscles instead of your lower back muscles.
Try the movement out by going a little lighter, using just the barbell first and progress from there! Let us know how it goes!
Remember, this page is for generalized advice. If you have a specific issue that you’ve been dealing with shoot us a DM and we can point you in the right direction.

🍑Low Back Pain during Glute Kickbacks?🍑
If you’re frustrated that you’re not seeing it may be because your lower back is taking the brunt of the work. Let’s bring it back to that PELVIC NEUTRALITY that we mentioned last week!
Set your self up for success by finding pelvis neutrality BEFORE starting your kickbacks. You may feel that your range of motion is more limited BUT that you’re actually targeting your glutes. (This also applies to kneeling glute kickbacks as well.)
Remember, this page is for generalized advice. If you have a specific issue that you’ve been dealing with shoot us a DM and we can point you in the right direction.
🏋🏻♀️ Do you experience lower back pain during your squat? 🏋🏼
Here’s a little something to consider: PELVIC CONTROL
One reason you may be experiencing LBP during a squat set is because the neutral curve of the spine is not maintained during the movement.
Use this quick exercise to set yourself up in an optimal position before you squat!
Remember, the page is for generalized advice, if the pain persists - give us a call or shoot us a DM and we can point you in the right direction!
We know you missed him - so we brought back to bring a little perspective to LOW BACK PAIN 🤯
About 80% of people suffer from LBP at some point in their lives, but it’s not always bad or that you’re broken.
It’s all about CONTEXT - what happened that brought on the pain?
Tune in this month as we explore different causes and exercises to help relieve your low back pain.
As always, if you have a specific issue that you’ve been dealing with, shoot us a DM or give us a call so we that we can help any way that we can!

LET’S TALK: WALKING LUNGES🚶🏽
Lunges, both stationary or walking, body weight or loaded, are a great way to strengthen your posterior chain so… you guessed it! HAMSTRINGS & GLUTES.
A few common mistakes we see in the gym are: taking strides that are too long, pushing off the back foot, and allowing the body to lean too far forward. Get the most out of your lunge with a few tips:
1. Think of your torso as an elevator not an escalator! Think about a straight up and down plane with your movement.
2. Shorten your stride - this is particularly useful if you find yourself losing balance in your walking lunges.
3. Press through your front foot when you lunge, try not to lean back! Stay light in your back foot.
4. Repeat 8-10x on each side and see if you can feel a difference!
As always, we are here to help with any questions you may have so feel free to shoot us a DM!
b.dpt
This is a simple test you can use to determine the overall mobility of your hips and lumbar spine. It further demonstrates your ability to be able to CONTROL your pelvis during a dynamic movement - in this case, your golf swing!
1. Set up in your “5 iron” stance.
2. Slowly move your pelvis in to an anterior pelvic tilt by slightly arching your low back.
3. Slowly move your pelvis into a posterior pelvis tilt by gently engaging your glutes and rounding the low back by tucking your tailbone down!
4. Repeat 5-10x
Look out for shaking and instability in your movements, this may mean you need to work on pelvic stability. The ability to control the position of your pelvis is essential to effectively transferring power from the lower body to the upper body during the golf swing.
🚨Mastering this technique may lead to improving your ability to off the tee!
