We love our members! Wouldn’t you like to join us!

May is Membership Month, but our amazing members deserve to be celebrated all year round! 👏

Why is that? Because of volunteers like you, the Kiwanis family (including Key Club International and Circle K International) devotes 7.3 MILLION HOURS OF SERVICE to kids and communities each year — service worth more than US$218 MILLION. And that’s not all: Kiwanis clubs also collectively raise more than US$340 MILLION for important causes. Wow! Just think of the difference you and your club have made in the world. ❤️

Kiwanis Club Awarded “Lettuce Grow” Grant

“Lettuce Grow” is a new grant program opportunity forAnderson County, and it has awarded a Farmstand Grant to the Kiwanis Club of Lawrenceburg. The program is committed to making improvements in the local access to fresh and healthy food for everyone. Through its collaboration with Lawrenceburg Kiwanis Club, they are granting the local club one 24-plant outdoor Farmstead plus 24 seedlings of garden food. Lettuce Grow's program is designed to provide local schools and organizations with everything they need for growing garden foods successfully that will have an impact on the community.

The Farmstead from Lettuce Grow Grant will be housed at Emma B. Ward Elementary School in Lawrenceburg, KY. The school serves approximately 500 students in first through 5th grades. The awarded grant will be incorporated into education about gardening and the Kentucky Farm as an ecosystem and economic engine. The Farmstead will be utilized in classroom instruction, hands-on learning, and student leadership through our Kiwanix Club Key Clubs and K-Kids.

It is anticipated the Lettuce Grow Program and its Farmstead project will be utilized for educational purposes by 500 students on site, as well as additional students visiting the Farmstead to learn about the project and witness its growth and purpose first hand.

The Lettuce Grown Foundation provides for a school garden in just four square feet, but offers the same benefits as traditional school gardens, while additionally enabling access to educators who otherwise face barriers to implement a standard gardening site.

Kiwanis Club of Lawrenceburg is all about kids and their families. The club services the children of Anderson County with programs that improve their lives and encourages them to become good citizens. The local club also sponsrs one Key Club at Anderson County High School, one established K-Kids Club at an elementary school, and one newly forming K-Kids Club at another elementary school.

With receipt of this grant award, Kiwanis Club will increase access to and consuption of fresh, healthy food in the community, increase community action to preserve the environment across all income levels, strive to eiliminate food shortages and improve the health of kids and their families.

Kiwanis Club of Lawrenceburg is open to anyone wishing to join the work being done to help kids in Anderson County Club meetings are held monthly on a Saturday at Emma B. Ward Elementary School. Children, babies, & teens dealing with serious medical issues have difficult journeys in life. Kiwanis Club of Lawrenceburg cares about kids so club members have taken on a new project that will help kids. The club is supporting the Beads of Courage Program.

The Beads of Courage Project helps a child or teen tell their story of courage, honor, & hope. Beads of Courage are given daily by clinicians, who care for sick children & teens. Specifically designed beads for different medical tests & procedures are periodically added to a string that patients wear around their necks. Every bead a patient receives is a powerful dose of narrative medicine, a story that is visually told & tangibly held for all to see.

To learn more about this worthwhile program & how to help the Lawrenceburg Kiwanis Club with their new project, go to: www.BeadsofCourage.com.

Kiwanis Mission, Vision and Core Values
At the Kiwanis International Foundation, our mission is to assist Kiwanis International in serving the children of the world. After all, that service makes up Kiwanis’ own mission. So the work of our foundation helps the Kiwanis family of programs change children’s lives—often in ways that would otherwise remain beyond the resources of clubs and districts.
In fact, our vision is to extend your Kiwanis impact. We strive to make sure your gift helps children in many places and many ways. And we succeed by holding fast to a set of 6 core values:
1. Stewardship. We are committed to meeting and sustaining donors’ confidence that our foundation will invest their contributions wisely and distribute them in keeping with the values inherent in the Kiwanis International mission.
2. Transparency. We adhere to the Donor Bill of Rights to treat all constituents fairly and ethically and to be above board in all of our dealings. (The Donor Bill of Rights is also available in Spanish and French.)
3. Responsiveness. We are relevant and proactive in meeting donors’ and grantees’ needs.
4. Legacy. We give donors the opportunity to leave a lasting mark on the world.
5. Integrity. We deal honestly in our interactions with all stakeholders.
6. Trust. Through the integrity of our actions, we seek to earn and maintain the trust of our Kiwanis family and constituents.
Along with all these values comes accountability. Your gifts reflect your hope for children’s lives—and your trust in us. So we strive to earn that trust. We share records and reports that document gifts, grants and the people we serve.
