Instructions for participating in our 2024 Kentucky Derby squares and supporting our senior class:
Purchase Squares:
Each square costs $10. Payment must be sent via Venmo to . MUST ADD “derby” to your message
You can buy as many squares as you want until we sell out.
We have 380 squares available for sale.
Final prize amounts will be determined based on the number of spots sold. If all 380 spots are sold the first prize will be $1200 and the second prize will be $600.
Wait for Random Assignment:
Squares will be randomly assigned upon purchase.
In the likely event that fewer than 20 horses run, any squares corresponding to those unused horse numbers will be automatically excluded from the competition. To increase your chances of winning, consider purchasing more squares.
The final squares list will be posted and emailed to all those purchasing squares on Derby Day 🙂
On the day of the event, watch the live broadcast of the 150th Annual Kentucky Derby.
The horizontal numbers will correspond to the horse who wins 1st place and the vertical numbers correspond to the horse who will place 2nd. For fairness and maximum fun, everyone will be assigned squares randomly.
Determine Winners:
After the race, the winning horse and second place horse will be identified.
The square corresponding to where the winning horse/number (horizontal axis) and 2nd place horse (on the vertical axis) meet will win first prize.
The square corresponding to where the second place horse/number (horizontal axis) and 3rd place horse (on the vertical axis) meet will win second prize.
Horses that scratch will be replaced with an alternate horse if available. If no alternate horse is available and less than 20 horses are sent to post, then unfortunately that horse is eliminated, but we THANK YOU for your donation to our senior class.
If all 380 spots are sold, we will also do a random drawing with names of everyone who bought a square to give away an extra $500.
Claim Your Prize:
If your square matches the winning combinations, claim your prize!
