Teach Us to Worship

"Friday is here, but Sunday is coming." Teach Us To Worship empowers families and congregations to participate in molding their children into lifelong worshippers. As you prepare your heart and help your children prepare theirs for worship, we are introducing our Friday Worship resources! These are items we've found that can help prepare children to enter worship on Sunday.

This week we are featuring All Creatures of Our God and King: Illustrated Hymns for Young Hearts. This board book, based on the hymn by William H. Draper, adds illustration and wonder to a beautiful hymn full of Gospel truth and probably familiar to children as they've heard the song in corporate worship.

Southeastern friends! Join Teach Us To Worship at the Made for More Conference at Covenant Presbyterian Church September 13th and 14th in Birmingham, AL . This partnership between the CDM Women's and Children's Ministry teams promises to encourage women young and old as we explore how God MADE US FOR MORE because of our creation design, gospel identity, and inter-generational friendships.

We live in a culture of “not-enoughness.” We feel the lack of not enough time, energy, relationships, or resources. Our hearts cry, “I need, I want, or I deserve more!” Are you driven to accumulate more “likes” on your social media or influence over others? Maybe you are exhausted by a never-ending quest for peace amid anxiety. This ideology of scarcity underscores our need to consider the sufficiency or “enoughness” of God’s character and purpose. We’ll be talking about creation design, gospel identity, and the joy of inter-generational friendships. We will explore how satisfaction, significance, and sufficiency can only be found by seeking our Savior.

The purpose of Teach Us to Worship is to engage, equip, educate, and empower congregations to nurture children in worship and prayer.

According to a Barna Group study in 2019, nearly two-thirds of American 18- to 29-year-olds who grew up in church have withdrawn from involvement as an adult. The same Barna Group study found that “belonging” and “‘connectedness” were seen as the driving factors for those identified as “resilient disciples.” The good news is that the story of the Bible unites all the members of our churches from birth to grave, shaping the worship and prayer practices of our congregations.

The purpose of Teach Us to Worship is to engage, equip, educate, and empower congregations to nurture children in worship and prayer.
