Our rescue partner Society of Humane Friends of Georgia is hosting a low-cost pet vaccine clinic on Sunday, June 30 from 2-4 PM at Barrow County Animal Control in Winder. They will also offer microchipping for dogs and cats. All dogs and cats at least six weeks of age are welcome; Barrow county residency is not required. Payment must be made in cash. PLEASE NOTE — if your pet cannot maintain decorum in line around other people and pets and be easily handled by our veterinary staff, we will unfortunately be unable to serve you.
This is an indoor event so don’t let the threat of rain prevent you from coming.

Our rescue partner Society of Humane Friends of Georgia has a ginger beauty that has been waiting for a home of her own for over five months now. Laney is a little over a year old and weighs 35 pounds. She is loving, affectionate and extremely playful. Laney is potty trained and crate trained in her foster home. She is doing very well walking on the leash, but will need access to a fenced area to do her business. She knows sit and down, and she takes treats gently. Laney would love a home of her own with active people (older kids would be best) or a playful canine companion. She is energetic, athletic and enjoys being outdoors. She would make an excellent running companion, or agility dog. Laney enjoys the water and loves a bath, playing in the rain, and drinking from the hose. Eight year old Edda is looking for a dad to love! She says it’s fine if a mom comes as part of the package but she specifically wants a daddy because she LOVES men! Edda is a slightly overweight Maltese/Terrier mix who weighs 14.5 pounds. She’s currently on a diet and twelve pounds would be a more ideal weight for her. Edda is good with other dogs and cats. She is housebroken for the most part and has a friendly, calm demeanor. Edda is great on a leash so she doesn’t require a fenced yard. She is fully vetted and healthy. Edda had a few benign growths removed from her back last week and got her teeth cleaned so she’s in tip-top shape to start her retirement years. Sadie is a 2-year-old, 60 lb Labradoodle who needs a patient, understanding human. This pretty girl joined us after we got a call from one of our partner vets a few weeks ago. Their local county shelter brings dogs to their clinic for spay/neuter surgery prior to adoption and Sadie was one of the dogs they brought in. To be perfectly honest, we were told that the shelter staff were not overly fond of Sadie due to her temperament. She was difficult to handle; growly, snappy and fearful of everyone in the shelter environment. The staff knew Sadie would be almost impossible to find a home for displaying that kind of behavior so they reached out to us for help. A vet staff-person had taken Sadie home for a few nights and discovered that away from scary places like the shelter and veterinarian’s office she is actually a wonderfully loving girl. Sadie takes about a day to warm up to new people but once she accepts you in her circle, she’s as sweet and loyal as can be. She will likely never be a dog who thrives in social settings so she needs a quiet, adult-only home with someone (or a couple) who doesn’t have a lot of visitors to their home. Sadie is a homebody. Although she enjoys car rides, she isn’t a dog who would do well at the park or any other social setting with lots of strangers. Sadie is a doggie-introvert and we believe she would thrive with a human of that same mindset. Sadie gets along fine with other dogs but she would be just as content as your only dog. She is fully housebroken and well-behaved in the house.

Hi, I’m Lady Violet and I’m looking for my forever home. I was abandoned by my owners when I was pregnant. I landed at a crowded shelter in north Georgia and soon after gave birth to six puppies. When my sweet babies were about a week old, a wonderful foster mom came and rescued us. She took us to her house and that’s where I’m waiting until my new humans adopt me.
I am about two years old and I weigh 58 lbs. We think I am a Hound/Lab mix. I am highly intelligent and receptive to training. My foster mom has taught me some basic obedience skills which I love to show off for a tasty treat! I am active and athletic but not overly hyper. If you are a Chihuahua lover, Sweetcakes is just the girl for you. This ten-pound, two year old little lady has all the endearing traits her breed is known for. She is comical, loyal and affectionate. Initially cautious with strangers, once she gets to know you Sweetcakes wants to be in your lap so she can show you how much she loves you. This regal gent is Duke. He is a two-year-old Terrier/Shepherd mix and he weighs about 50 pounds. Duke was found as a stray. When his owners were contacted thanks to his microchip, they said they didn’t want him back. Duke was not “lost” — he was likely intentionally abandoned.😔

In his foster home, Duke has proven to be a lovely houseguest. He is excellent with other animals and the older kids in the home. He is playful but not hyper and he enjoys relaxing on the sofa as much as anything. He has good leash manners and would enjoy taking walks with his new humans. Duke is crate-trained and housebroken. This guy is an all-around good boy and we don’t understand why his original family didn’t want him any more.

True to her namesake, Daphne of the Bridgerton Babies is sweet, calm and ladylike. She loves cuddles and playtime but is also content to play independently or take a stroll around the yard.
