Don't forget! We are CLOSED next Monday and the start time is going back to normal. =D
Recently a concerned citizen asked to be included on the agenda of a regular meeting of the Marion County Fiscal Court. We certainly feel that every citizen has the right to express concerns in the public forum such as is presented in the monthly meeting of the Marion County Fiscal Court. However, when asked the nature of the agenda item, the individual refused to give a topic of the presentation. This is not acceptable as an agenda item and is specifically addressed in the document that is attached.
While we encourage public comment at our open meetings, we must ensure that agenda items are appropriate for discussion in an open forum.
Salt Lick Rd will be completely closed on Wednesday starting at 7:00am for blacktopping. No thru traffic.

🛑ROAD CLOSURE 🛑
TUESDAY, August 20th: Beginning at 7:00am, Oil Shale Road will be closed to thru traffic for blacktopping. Please use caution if driving in the area and expect delays coming and going. Allowances will be made for school buses.
UPDATE!
The Transfer Station will not open until next Monday, July 22, 2024. If you have construction debris you can take it to the Nelson County Landfill at 1025 Airport Rd, Bardstown, KY 40004.
Reminder: Next Friday morning will be your last chance to utilize the Transfer Station before a brief closure. =)
Thank you H.O.P.E. for all you do and for inviting Rebecca A Williams to share her knowledge!!! Marion County Emergency Management Agency 🥰
We will be closed on Thursday, July 4th, in honor of Independence Day. Thursday and Friday garbage routes will both run on Friday.
🇺🇸🎆❤️🤍💙🌟
IMPORTANT CLOSURE NOTICE
Due to the demolition and construction of new concrete barriers, the Transfer Station will be CLOSED beginning at 1:00pm on Friday, July 12th, and will not reopen until 7:00am on Monday, July 22nd.
If you or your business regularly uses the Transfer Station, please be aware that the gates will be closed, and nothing will be accepted during this time frame.
ADDITIONALLY, please be patient in regards to garbage pickup. Because we won't have access to the use of the station ourselves, our crews will be driving our garbage trucks back and forth to the Nelson County Landfill every time they get full. We will do our best to stay on schedule, but we cannot guarantee there won't be delays.
Thank you for your patience!
We will be CLOSED on Wednesday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth. There will be NO GARBAGE pickup on Wednesday; both Wednesday and Thursday routes will be picked up on Thursday beginning at 6am.
Juneteenth became a federal holiday in 2021, and just this year it will be recognized as a state holiday. As a newly observed holiday for us, we wanted to share a small bit of history about this day and why it is important to remember.

❗️ Important Garbage Notice ❗️
Beginning Monday, JUNE 3rd, Sanitation Crews will begin their routes at 6:00 am (an hour earlier than usual). This early start will continue through JUNE/JULY/AUGUST. This early start allows our crews to safely and efficiently collect their entire routes before the summer heat gets too intense. This is our third year enacting this schedule and it has been well received and the crews appreciate it as well.
Additionally, with an early start comes an early finish time. If you have an issue with your pickup (you were missed, a dumpster needs an extra dump, etc) you must call us before Noon to give us time to try to get a truck to you before they are finished for the day. We will always do everything we can to help, if we have time.
We ALWAYS suggest you have your garbage out before the start of the route, even if you're normally picked up later in the day. So we suggest you have it out by 6:00 am for the summer. You can, of course set it out the night before your pickup day.
Thanks so much for your cooperation. Please Share!
ATTN: State Hwy Road Closure
State Hwy Dept. crews are currently working along Hwy 49 to replace/install culvert tiles. This work is preventing our sanitation trucks from running our normal routes along 49 as well as the side roads. We DO plan on continuing these routes as soon as the roads are passable.

** NOTICE ** Did you know there are certain waste containers (trash cans) that meet requirements and some that do not? We answer calls on a regular basis about garbage not being emptied from a can; here are a few things to consider.
A) Waste containers smaller than 35 gallons MAY be lifted and dumped into the truck, as long as they weigh less than 75 pounds.
B) If the can is larger than 35 gallons or weighs more than 75 pounds, the crew WILL NOT pick up the can. Instead, they will lift tied bags of garbage and toss them into the truck. LOOSE GARBAGE will NOT be emptied from larger cans. This goes for the heavy duty blue cans you may have seen around the county.
C) Barrels of any kind are not approved waste containers per County Ordinance since they do not have tapered sides. IF the lip of the can is completely removed, and IF the contents are bagged, crews MAY empty barrels of trash. They will NOT be lifted, and loose garbage will not be emptied. Please consider, barrels do not have lids which prevents the contents from being protected by weather and animals.
D) If your container or the contents are deemed Unapproved, you may see this sticker placed on it. If this happens, you can call the county barn and they can explain to you why it's unapproved and they will work with you to get your garbage picked up.
E) Our crews work extremely hard doing a very physical job that really nobody wants to do. They work in extreme heat and cold, snow, sleet, rain, etc. all while standing on the back of a moving vehicle. The time spent at each stop (several hundred per day) adds up and when there is a problem, they do not have time to pick up loose garbage and place your cans back in a neat row like you left them. Please consider this if you need to call to voice a complaint. We will always do what is right and necessary to keep our roads clean and safe, and to protect our employees on the job.

** THANK YOU FOR BEING AWESOME **
