Twilight Outreach was a success. We were able to provide resources to elevate employment, economic and housing status.
Through thoughtful and intentional planning GLM House Inc, The Church of Salvation, Lemon Grove Improvement Council, Lemon Grove Forward Club and Uptown Community Service Center created a resource space for our working unhouse community.

Community forum on Troy Street Tiny House project. Conversations GLM House had with our neighbors those that opposed and those that approved. I can say this.....our services will need to be on point! We can no longer be cool with the same same old, same old. Our mindset regarding supportive services need to be recalibrated.

Meet a member of the UCSD - University of California San Diego Homelessness Hub's Community Advisory Board
In her undergraduate studies at San Diego City College, Amelia Broadnax often wondered about the value of her statistics class. She’s realizing its importance today in her role as a member of the Homelessness Hub's Community Advisory Board.
“I say thank you Lord that I at least got a C out of the class,” Broadnax, 59, said with a laugh. “I can understand today why statistics are so important, why research is so important, why it is so important to actually have people who have experienced homelessness to be able to talk to the researchers when they are crafting the questions so that it makes sense for the person hearing the questions.”
Broadnax is a native of Oakland, CA and retired from her job as a materials handler with the EPA. Her experiences with clinical depression, homelessness and eight-month incarceration have put her in a unique position to contribute to the work of the UC San Diego Homelessness Hub. Today, she owns and operates a nonprofit that provides transitional and permanent housing to the unsheltered.
“My goal is to help create the most conducive study to understand the fundamentals of homelessness. It’s not just a person without a place to stay. It’s a person who feels they are without dignity.”

GLM (Grow, Learn, Motivate) is a nonprofit local organization in San Diego that strives to provide housing and supportive services that guide tenants toward self-sufficiency. GLM aims to empower our former homeless, justice-impacted adult men and women by revitalizing their self-worth and fostering self-efficacy, ultimately enabling them to demonstrate and engage in new, positive decision-making behaviors that lead to prosperity.
With our first-ever event, our goal is to raise $10,000 at the Spring Fling. All funds will go to support housing more people with low-income real affordable spaces. In the last 18 months, GLM has housed 43 people experiencing homelessness in shared housing. What’s more important is that the majority of those housed at GLM have remained housed with a retention rate of 67% today. GLM is truly an innovator in the housing arena and with your support, can expand our reach to help provide dignified housing to those in need.
