๐Ÿ‚โฐ Safety Alert: Daylight Saving Time Ends! โฐ๐Ÿ‚

As we fall back into Standard Time, your local emergency responders of Lewisville Fire Fighters Association Local 3606 urge you to take a moment to make your home and family safer. Here are four essential safety tips to help you stay prepared during this seasonal transition:

Change Smoke Alarm Batteries: Daylight Saving Time ending is a great reminder to replace the batteries in your smoke alarms. A functional smoke alarm is your first line of defense against house fires, so ensure it's in top condition.

Change Security Camera Batteries: If you have security cameras, don't forget to change their batteries. A well-functioning security system can help deter crime and provide valuable evidence in case of an emergency.

Test Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detectors: Take a few moments to test your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. This simple step can save lives by alerting you to potential dangers in your home.

Restock Pet & Human First Aid Kits: Emergencies can happen at any time. Ensure your first aid kits are well-stocked and up to date. Don't forget to include supplies for your furry family members.

By following these safety tips, you can make your home more secure and ensure that you're prepared for the unexpected. Daylight Saving Time ending isn't just about adjusting your clocks; it's a great opportunity to make safety a priority.

As your local emergency responders, we are dedicated to keeping our community safe, and we encourage you to take these simple yet vital steps to protect your loved ones and your home. We're here for you, day and night.

Stay safe and be vigilant!

An Areal Flood Advisory has been issued for Lewisville through Thursday morning (10/26). Lewisville Local 3606 recommends that if itโ€™s bad outside, stay home. But if you do need to go out in bad weather, be on the lookout for water moving over a roadway. Turn around and donโ€™t drown! Do not drive into the water!

So you might be wondering, what is an โ€œAreal Flood Warning?โ€ An Areal Flood Warning is normally issued for flooding that develops more gradually, usually from prolonged and persistent moderate to heavy rainfall. This results in a gradual ponding or buildup of water in low-lying, flood-prone areas, as well as small creeks and streams. The flooding normally occurs more than six hours after the rainfall begins, and may cover a large area. However, even though this type of flooding develops more slowly than flash flooding, it can still be a threat to life and property.

Members of the Lewisville Fire Fighters Association participated in the 13th Annual Michaels Memories Getaway from Cancer Golf Tournament today. Joining the tournament offered an opportunity to fundraise for the charity, Michael's Memories, while providing our members a day of camaraderie on the golf course, mingling with fire fighters from around the area.

The mission of Michael's Memories is to provide fighterfighters with cancer the opportunity to "getaway from cancer" on a vacation with their family. Allowing them to reconnect and escape the stress, trauma, and financial burden that undergoing cancer treatment creates while also involving the community and raising cancer awareness to the public.

Michael's Memories is a charitable organization created by Michael Williams Coppell FD (TX). Until Michael's Last Alarm on March 24, 2019, he dedicated his service to his brother and sister fire fighters battling cancer.
