Only 6 days until North Texas Giving Day! Kasie is supporting Children's Advocacy Center for North Texas. 🥳

"CAC's goal is to eliminate the negative outcomes associated with child abuse and to restore the full potential of the child. They aim to break the cycle of child abuse by educating families and our community to protect children.

I spent the majority of my adult-life working with children. I know first hand that we can never have enough support for them and the issues so many encounter. This organization helps children and families learn how to process trauma and ultimately heal."

We are excited to introduce you to Nicole, our Director of Partner Relations for Wise and Jack Counties, for this week’s Staff Spotlight. Nicole manages our Bridgeport and Jacksboro office locations and primarily meets with our Wise and Jack County clients.

Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I pinch myself every day that I get to be part of such important, impactful work. The best moments are witnessing our team, who worked hard to become a team and work hard to stay a team successfully pull together to serve children and families who need them.

Q: What motivates you in your personal and professional life?
A: Being a mother and foster mother is my greatest joy and the most motivating force in my personal life. Professionally, I love to be challenged to find solutions, to create, and/or to improve something.

Q: What activities do you do for fun?
A: I love anything to do with being in and learning about nature. I love to hike, garden, fish, and research things I find along the way. I equally love to cook. Gardening and cooking are my go-to ways to relax and be in the moment. I share those hobbies with my husband, child, and foster children and it is very connecting for us.

Q: Tell me a little about yourself and/or your family.
A: I come from a large family. I have one sister and three brothers (two of which are identical twins). We are all very close with each other and our parents. We are loud, silly, and always there for each other. We have a very large extended family, and we gather often. I grew up in Lubbock, Texas on a "just for fun" farm and those are my best memories!

Q: What is a silly or fun fact about you?
A: I LOVE to sing. I don't think many in my professional life know that about me. I'm an in-the-car-alone/at home singer. My 6-year-old thinks I'm good at it!

We hope everyone has the opportunity to meet the bright light that is Nicole. She contributes so much to what we do here, and we are lucky to have her!

The World Health Organization is aiming to raise awareness about the importance of reducing stigma and encouraging open conversations to prevent suicides. These conversations, no matter how small, can help break down barriers and lead to better cultures of support.

A huge thank you to Brent Hall for his generous donation of children's clothing for the kids we serve. Providing emergency supplies, including new clothes for our clients, is an important resource we offer to our families in crisis.

Your donations to our Rainbow Room directly provide brand new clothes, shoes, food, and essential supplies to our kiddos and their families.

We bet you have some of your kids' clothes with the tags still on! If they've outgrown those sizes, please consider donating them to Children’s Advocacy Center for North Texas. Your support brings hope, healing, and justice to children who have been victimized by abuse.

Quick reminder that we are less than one month away from North Texas Giving Day! Mark your calendars for September 19th and visit our page below to donate in support of us.

Choose to support Children’s Advocacy Center for North Texas because 1 in 10 kids will be affected by the crime of abuse. We exist to help these kids restore their potential through justice, healing, and education. Help provide brighter days for kiddos of our community!

08/29/2024

While we exist for the children, we also provide support to their families and caregivers. It is important that families and caregivers understand what is happening, the process and next steps while they’re here. We value good communication and ensuring our clients feel that they are in good hands. Receiving feedback like this from a caregiver means we are doing our jobs!

Excited to share with you another Staff Spotlight! This week we’re sharing about our Clinical Therapist Tori, who has been on our staff for 4 years after completing a year long internship with Children’s Advocacy Center for North Texas. Learn more about her below!

Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: By the time a child gets to the therapy process, they have already gotten help from a lot of other departments in the CACNT. Therapy is the last stop, and it is rewarding being the light at the end of the tunnel for kiddo's and be able to see their growth during the therapy process!

Q: What motivates you in your personal and professional life?
A: Being able to be a fun and safe adult in kid's lives who have not always had that, is really motivating! And being able to help guide kids through their trauma and be that resource for them!

Q: What activities do you do for fun?
A: Reading, watercolor, embroidery, painting

Q: Tell me a little about yourself and/or your family.
A: I'm married and have a dog named Petal!

Q: What is a silly or fun fact about you?
A: I sleepwalk!

Thanks for sharing more about you with our audience, Tori! More importantly, thank you for sharing your talents and passion with our kiddos and being a guiding light for them each day.

Our Community Educator, Bri, attended Friendship Baptist Church’s Annual Health Fair & Back to School Rally for Children’s Advocacy Center for North Texas. This back-to-school rally had free backpacks and school supplies while offering healthcare services such as sports physicals, information, and other community resources. We were so excited to speak with the community about our mission and education opportunities for adults and kids.

We were absolutely thrilled to receive a donation from Chevron Phillips Chemical which was kickstarted from our friend, Chantel Allen, CPChem’s Environmental Coordinator. Chantel visited our Lewisville location during our Spring Open House and has since felt the pull to be a volunteer with us and asked her employer to help support our mission. We are so grateful for individuals like Chantel and organizations like Chevron Phillips Chemical who have big hearts and want to make a difference in our community!
