Hello Morton Families! We're celebrating our teachers and staff next week with a cookout lunch on Thursday 5/23. We've done this for a couple of years now and we've been told this is their favorite! Please help us show our appreciation for all they do for our kids!!
Good morning Morton families,
The Morton PTSA would like to congratulate Matt Bacon, Danielle Neville, Erin Bookman and Ashley Kenney who were elected by parents and guardians to represent them on the SBDM council. Thank you so much for your willingness to serve the students of Morton and the school community.
Allison Krift
Morton PTSA President
Good Afternoon, Below are the nominations of 5 candidates for the Morton SBDM Council 2024-2025. You will have the opportunity to choose 4 of these candidates. An election will take place via digital ballot 5/13/24-5/15/24, the winners will be announced May 16.
Matt Bacon
My name is Matt Bacon, and I’d like to be considered for a parent representative on SBDM. This was my first year on SBDM as a parent representative for 23-24. I believe after a year on the council learning the process, I can be a much more effective advocate for students and parents. I am and will continue to be a strong advocate for our public schools. There will continue to be very difficult decisions that have to be made in the setting of shrinking budgets and ever changing enrollment numbers. I’m hopeful we can better work with the district to prepare for these, and continue to offer the most robust learning experiences for the kids. I work as a pediatrician at Kentucky Children’s Hospital, and my wife Megan is a nurse with Healthfirst of the Bluegrass. We currently have an 8th grade student at Morton who will be at Henry Clay next year but also have a 5th grade student at Glendover Elementary who will be at Morton next year.
Danielle Neville
Hi, my name is Danielle Neville, I am a stay at home mom of three wonderful children - Bowen (6), Ward (8), and Lilah (11). As a dedicated parent and advocate for education, I am excited to contribute to the SBDM council at our school. My children’s education is my top priority, and I am committed to ensuring a positive learning environment for all students. I graduated with honors and hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from The University of Kentucky. I have been participating in a fellowship program for the past year that I will complete in June known as CIPL (Commonwealth Institute for Parent Leadership). This program has deepened my understanding of educational policies and practices, empowering me to advocate effectively for our school community. I actively participate in the PTA and have served as a homeroom mom for several years. Having attended Morton Middle School myself, I have a personal connection to our school district. I am committed to promoting shared leadership and making informed decisions that benefit our students. If elected to SBDM council, I will work diligently to create a thriving educational environment for all. Thank you for considering my candidacy!
Erin Bookman
I have two lovely daughters that attend Glendover Elementary and Morton Middle School. My amazing husband and I have been married for 17 years and we have been renovating our house for 16 years. It is almost done! I am a pharmacist for UK in their Specialty Pharmacy Department. In my free time, I enjoy sports and being outdoors at the lake, beach, or pool. I hope to continue as a parent representative for Morton SBDM council because I have enjoyed being a parent voice for our families. I have so much respect for our teaching staff and administrators: they make bold and necessary decisions to better our student body’s learning and social awareness. Parents bring an intimate student perspective to the table, and a positive working relationship with our staff and administrators is vital. I am on the Morton PTSA Board and currently on the Mary E. Britton Middle School rezoning committee. I am all-in for making Morton a school for our families to trust with their children. I hope to continue to offer support to Morton staff and students! I want Morton to be a positive social and educational playground for our kids.
Ashley Kenney
I would like to be on SBDM again next year. As a parent of a former and current Mustang of biracial children one whom has a learning disability I understand the importance of inclusion for all. It is important for all students to feel included & safe.

My wife Elizabeth and I currently have two children enrolled in FCPS (Morton, Henry Clay). I have been an Executive Chef for 25 years. The PTSA is currently seeking nominations for parents that are interested in serving on Morton's SBDM council for the 2024-2025 school year. The commitment is 1 school year and we need 4 parent representatives. This is a great way to get involved in what is happening inside the school!

Pursuant to KRS 160.380, parent council members will need to submit to a national and state fingerprinted criminal background check and also submit a letter from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services stating the member has no findings of substantiated child abuse or neglect through a background check of child abuse and neglect records. SBDM representatives are required to attend a training session (six-hours for a new member/ three-hours for an experienced member) and monthly meetings.
