Lexington Tool Library
A community owned, ran & controlled, pay-what-you-can library of tools & things to help community. We're raising money expand Lexington's Tool Library.
Tool libraries are a great ways to reduce consumption & promote community. They're also fun - imagine the projects you may do, if you are able to borrow a needed item when you need it! Support is needed!! Your donation helps make it possible for more residents of our community to access tools they need. Plus, you may be featured on our website as a founders for supporting us! https://secure.givelively.org/donate/pride-community-services-organization-pcso/lexington-tool-library
Thanks to a generous grant awarded to us from the Self-development of People (SDOP) program, Lexington Tool Library will be bringing a ToolMobile to Central KY! In the future, we’ll be able to bring tools to our community at: local parks, farmers markets, events & more. This venture will take our all-volunteer team time to get all the pieces prepared to make it happen.
What’s Next?
- Buying a truck! If you can help find a quality used large truck, that doesn’t require a Commercial Drivers’ License, let us know!
- We need to build & install shelving & storage in the truck. This requires materials, carpenters & funding. Let us know if you can help with any of these.
- We need to paint it with our logo so everyone knows we’re around. Reach out if you have experience painting vehicles.
- We need volunteers who will help us drive it around town.
Do you have a story about how the tool library has helped you this past year? We'd love to hear it!
One of our members made good use of some extra shovels and the tamper to do ground prep for a shipping container. As this project progresses, he'll be sure to share more about the tools he's borrowing that will make this all possible. He'll also be donating a concrete mixer soon (or at least, when we are able to have space for one - keep an eye out for updates!)
Check out a chainsaw, or sew a pad. Your choice!
Happy to be hosting Mutual Menstruation here at the Tool Library's open hours 😊.
