Congratulations to our poster winner!Elizabeth Congdon with “Novel enrichment strategies lead to lasting reduction in cortisol & anxiety-driven behaviors in shelter dogs” won both 1st place and the Peoples’ Choice. Sally Dickinson with “Effectiveness of citizen scientist dog teams in detecting spotted lantern fly eggs masses” was 2nd, & Heidi Kluess with “Cognition & dog sports participation” was 3rd.

The APDT Foundation invites submissions of poster presentation proposals from the academic (faculty, students and researchers) and professional (dog trainers, shelter staff, veterinary staff, etc.) communities. Posters will be presented and judged at the APDT/CAPDT Annual Conference in Covington, KY, October 18–20, 2023. Financial prizes will be awarded to the top posters.

Successful posters will include all or some of the following:
• research related to dog behavior and training
• preliminary findings
• completed studies
• summaries of relevant published research
• position papers

The mission of the APDT Foundation is to provide funding for applied scientific research on dog training & behavior and to further increase the knowledge base of the dog training profession.

The APDT Foundation will offer up to five (5) grants annually of $2500 each.

Submission categories include:
-behavior analysis
-ethology
-cognition
-training & behavior modification interventions

The proposing institution must be an accredited degree-granting college/university or non-profit research institution.

Interested individuals do not necessarily need to be a member of the APDT to participate in this Foundation program.

The deadline for grant proposal submissions is Thursday, April 20th, 2023.

Grant award notifications will be sent out on Saturday, May 20th, 2023.
