When was the last time you looked at your pet's teeth? Just like us humans, 2/3 of your pet's teeth are below the surface which can give us a false indication that their teeth are healthy when really something is brewing below the surface. This is why annual dental cleanings are so important for your pet's health. Give us a call to schedule your pet's dental appointment today!

Summer is just around the corner! ☀️
Read below about the most common water borne diseases that your dogs can contract.
Leptospirosis: This bacteria most commonly infects dogs swimming in stagnant bodies of water, rivers, lakes, and streams. This disease is difficult to diagnose and vaccinations against this disease are recommended.
Giardia: This parasite can be found in moist, cool environments and can pass through water to infect your pet. Cases of Giardia consist of mild diarrhea but in severe cases this diarrhea may lead to dehydration and weight loss.
Pseudomonas: While ear infections can have multiple causative agents, this bacteria can commonly be found in water and make its way to your dog’s ears. Dogs with extra floppy ears that trap heat and moisture, and those who love to swim, are at a higher risk.
Blue/Green Algae: During summer weather, lakes commonly have bacteria present that can produce algae. A toxin is then released from the algae that is severely toxic to humans and dogs. Dogs should be kept from swimming in lakes with visible algal blooms.
It’s important to know the water before your pet takes a dive❤️ Post a picture below of your pet having some fun in the sun!!
