When I close our store today I will be retiring from my career as a jeweler that began in 1972. Over 48 years I have worked with many amazing people including mentors Phil Doyle in Buffalo NY, Fred Schnaars in San Francisco, James Free in Dayton OH, Lauren Hamann here in Lincoln NE, and my favorite coworker Toni Yost here at Heart of Gold over the last 11 years. Making and repairing jewelry is a lot of working on meaningless trinkets. But it is also often working with items that are incredible symbols of the emotional bonds between human beings and even over generations. I will continue to share my experience in metals classes at the art center and maybe make a few pieces. This work has allowed me to meet so many wonderful people. It's been a good run. Thank you all.

After over 11 years of creating, repairing, and serving our wonderful community, Heart of Gold is planning to close its doors at the end of October. Dad has been a jeweler for 48 years, and is excited to enter retirement! We hope you will come in to see us and celebrate both the closing of a long and beautiful chapter and the opening of a bright new one! We'll begin a Retirement Sale in mid September and we hope you will help spread the word to help us empty our cases by the time we close! Hi all! As we step into September, we hope you're enjoying this sweet slide into fall. You guys have kept us busy through Summer 2020 and we are so grateful! Custom jobs never even slowed down during the pandmeic, and our mission of making the old new again was fulfilled again and again. Hi friends, unfortunately we will be closed this week. Dad and I are both quarantining while I await Covid test results. We both feel fine, but I was exposed last week and we want to be sure we don't put anyone else at risk. Thank you for understanding, and we look forward to helping you once we are both in the clear. These diamond buttercups were given to her by her parents and she has worn them every single day since. So that's what... 53 years of daily wear? She had lost a stone and it was our great honor to replace it and retip both earrings! In pieces like this, the value doesn't lie in the gold and the stones, but in the days, months and years of life and experience and memories that these little earrings carry with them.
