This is a great safety guide for children swimming in lakes and swimming pools. The color of the bathing suit can make it easier or more difficult to see children while they are swimming. This is a good reminder to always have adult supervision when children are swimming. (Thanks to Praire Lakes Healthcare System.)
Today our members participated in the Lindenhurst high schools shattered dreams event. During this event we helped demonstrate why one should not drink and drive. It’s not worth the risk. Celebrate responsibility.
Today is a tough day for our family. Two years ago we lost our Papa Oates. GFO, not a day goes by that we do not think of you. You are truly missed by all of us. You and your family are always in our hearts. Rest easy friend. 💔
Greetings Neighbors, Just a friendly reminder regarding the volunteers in your village.
When you're driving and see flashing Blue lights in your mirror (behind you) that is a neighbor who volunteers their time, responding to an alarm. Please yield to them and give them the courtesy by pulling over to the right and stopping until they pass. This alarm may be Fire or EMS related, but either way some sort of emergency. NYS VTL gives them the right to use their personal vehicle to respond expeditiously but safely to their respective station or scene while displaying a blue light. LFD members responding in their personal vehicles is the first step in the many that follow to offer aid to our community when it is needed. Our community needs these first responders to arrive safely and quickly so that they can do what they have volunteered to do, and that is to help a neighbor, friend or complete stranger in their time of need. Please help us help you. If you see a blue light behind you, PULL OVER and STOP. Thank you!!!
This will be tons of Fun!!! Help Support our brothers from the south side of town. We hope to see you there!!!
Bay Rat St. Patrick's party.
Great Irish night out.
Please help US help YOU. You taking 15 mins to clear a nearby fire hydrant can save a life! With the incoming storm heavy snow and strong winds are expected. This will be a heavy wet snow, so please know your limits while shoveling and take breaks. Please make sure you bring your pets in, and check on the elderly in the event of a power outage. Stay safe! As always, if you need us we will be there.
Last night members of the Lindenhurst Chemical and Rescue Co. 1 were presented the most prestigious award an EMT can hope for, the “Pre Hospital Life Save”. We can not be more proud of the dedicated members who took action and brought light back to a families dark moment. Congratulations to the recipients!!!
On October 19th, 2023, at the monthly meeting of the Lindenhurst Chemical and Rescue Co., a special event was celebrated with current Lindenhurst Chiefs in attendance. Captain Mike Palumbo, presented an honorary Ex-Captain badge to 40+ year, and life member Eileen Lohman. Prior to joining the company, she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Feeling she wanted to do more to help her community, she officially became part of the Rescue company in 02/1981. During her time in the company, Eileen has served as Company Treasurer, for more years than she cares to remember. Also holding certifications of EMT-D, EMT-B, Heavy Rescue, Incident Command, Fire Police, HazMat 1st Responder Operations, and Firefighter I. Eileen has also served as Squad Leader, and current Rescue Benevolent Representative. The current membership unanimously feel that this honor is long overdue, and are proud to now address her as Ex-Captain, Eileen Lohman. Congratulations Eileen!!!!!!!

On the morning of March 27, 2023, tragedy struck Lindenhurst Middle School when a 13-year-old student was the victim of a knife attack from a fellow student. Thankfully, due to the quick thinking and decisive action of Chief Mike DeGregorio of Lindenhurst Fire Department , the student’s life was saved.
Chief DeGregorio had been working onsite as the school safety officer, when he was alerted over his radio of the altercation occurring between the two students. He immediately rushed to the scene and found the victim bleeding profusely from his right leg while a teacher was attempting to render aid. Without hesitation, Chief DeGregorio removed his belt, using it as a tourniquet to staunch the bleeding, keeping the student alive until emergency medical services arrived.
"Chief Mike Degregorio embodies the bravery and selfless call to duty that lives inside every member of the fire and EMS service in Suffolk County,” said Patrick Beckley, Suffolk County Commissioner of Fire, Rescue & Emergency Services. “If it were not for his training and lack of due regard for his own safety, a family and the resilient community of Lindenhurst could have suffered a tremendous loss. It's incidents like this that remind us just how important the men and woman of our fire and EMS service truly are. It's my hope that at least one person looks at Mike's actions and is inspired to serve their community in the same capacity he and our other first responders do."
