LSHS STEM students spoke to students at Chapel Hill Elementary today for the OTPYG Day about their experiences, as well as what university they will attend upon graduation.

Congratulations go out to our STEM senior, Roshan Patel for being recognized as one of 177 graduating seniors from across the state. Students eligible for Georgia Scholar recognition are high school seniors who exhibit excellence in all phases of school life and in community activities. distinguished students have taken on rigorous academic coursework, excelled in their studies, participated in interscholastic events and played an active role in their school’s extracurricular activities.
The Georgia Department of Education has recognized 177 graduating seniors from across the state as 2024 Georgia Scholars. Superintendent Trent North and the Douglas County School System are proud to have six students recognized for achieving this academic distinction.

Bring your elementary & middle school students out for an evening of discovery and excitement at the Lithia Springs High School! The LSHS STEM Magnet Program will be hosting KIDS STEM Night! Mark your calendars for May 8th, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, as we transform the LSHS Cafe into a hub of scientific exploration and innovation.
We were excited to welcome the Georgia State University AFT program and their STEAM Truck where our students learned about drone technology hands-on!

LSHS STEM Students at the Atlanta Science Festival 2024
LSHS STEM students participated in hands-on lab simulations to learn Cybersecurity concepts at Georgia Tech this past weekend.
Our LSHS STEM students attended the Hackathon: Coding for a Better Community event at the University of West Georgiaon 3/9 where they worked in teams to design and implement software within a short time-frame. Such a great experience!

This week we welcomed STEM Pros into our classrooms through with the help of Science ATL. This Imagining the Future event provided opportunities to increase students' knowledge of the unique science and technology coming out of universities and businesses, interest in STEM careers, understanding of unsolved problems and unanswered questions in STEM fields.

Today was a great day of professional development for LSHS STEM Magnet teachers who visited Paul Duke STEM School in Gwinnett County and worked on PBLs.
We had an amazing afternoon at our STEM Winter Party this week! From video games, Just Dance, Blind Karaoke, and building gingerbread houses, our STEM students had a blast! A huge shout out all the students, parents, and teachers who made this event possible!
The district level science fair took place on Tuesday, February 13, in the Magnolia Room at DCSS.
