Woodcrest Daylilies LLC
We are a themed Daylily Display Garden with over 1000 varieties. Welcome to our garden! And don’t forget your camera!
Daylilies, as their botanical name "Hemerocallis" implies, are "beautiful for a day" perennial, flowering plants. Even though each bloom only lasts for one day, plants have several "scapes" (stems), that can average 10 to 16 or more blooms, allowing that plant to flower with color for many weeks. Many plants will even have "re-blooms" to keep your garden filled with beautiful color throughout the
It’s time!! And they are here!
Plant them now and they will come back each year!
Our local Daylily club (https://www.facebook.com/delawarevalleydaylilysociety?mibextid=LQQJ4d)
had a great Daylily Plant Sale & Plant Auction yesterday. You just could not beat the $7 a double fan sale and the PLant Auction was even better!
We got a $300 Daylily for $50 ( and there were lots of those deals up for bid at the auction).
Both of these sales are open to the general public.
If you are interested in attending next years event (in Paoli, Pa or virtually) reply here and we will put you on the email notification list.
We also have one more Event this season that is actually a Region 3 Daylily sponsored event in October.

This is ABSOLUTELY the best event of the season with an even bigger selection of great plants!
For those who have visited our garden, this is the event where we won that $750 plant you have seen in our garden.
They have really great speakers throughout the weekend, and the Saturday evening dinner and plant auction are the highlight of the event!
We would love to have you join us.

Hello Gardening friends!
We still have some but are coming to the end, so get yours quick!!
Now that the storms are finished, we have started digging our seedlings again.
We have a pretty good selection, and we do have photos of them on each pot.
The plants are (2) for $5 and they will go quick so stop by and get yours while they last!
We will be digging up more tomorrow but may not have photos of them,
Seedlings are the plants we have created and are trying to get one of those really special ones that Daylily collectors will want to have in their garden. It takes a lot of cross breeding, growing hoping that you’ll get on of those 1 or 2 in a thousand that will make the cut!
Even though these don’t quite make it, they are still pretty, healthy and hardy plants for your garden!
For those of you who love bright orange daylilies, this late bloomers really stands out in the garden!
Sellstation Carnival D. Thomas - 2006
Save the date Daylily lovers. The Delaware Valley Daylily Society will hold its annual sale on August 24th at the Church of Good Samaritan in Paoli. It is from 8am - 1pm. The sale will be followed by an auction of newer cultivars.
We potted up the Unregistered Daylily Seedlings so they would not dry up in this heat, but it also allows you to just dig a hole and drop it in, or keep it in the pot for a few weeeks, just keep it watered.
This is a great deal of (2) clumps for $5!
Were clearing out some of our Unregistered Daylilies
They are still beautiful plants and they will go quick.
Just dig a hole. Drop them in oryou can split them up. They are nice sized clumps
(2) for $5!
Each day we will put a few more out as well.
Gotta make room for the new ones!
As Mother Nature begins to wind down our summer bloom season, we will host one last Open Garden Tour day tomorrow.
It is Free and open to the public to stroll around the garden or just relax on one of our many benches. It is a great time to see the late bloomers, as well as the late season Rebloomers.
We will be out in the garden 9am to 4 pm.
Hope to see you in the garden !
The garden is winding down but we still have plenty to see today…and the patio fans are running!
Hope to see you in the garden!!
We had another accident on the round-about last weekend.
No one was hurt (so the roundabout did exactly what it was designed to do….prevent fatal accidents)!
The accidents here are almost always related to people going too fast and not yielding to drivers in the circle.
PLEASE use your turn signals (just as you would for any other turn), so other drivers can see what you are doing….turning off before they get to you OR turning to drive in front of you. It’s so easy!!
This accident was a typical, glancing type of collision but, one car was pushed right into one of our large rocks.
The force of that direct hit actually moved that rock about 4”. That rock probably weights a good 2000 lbs.
If that would have been a T-bone or head-on collision they would have been cutting that guy out of his car.
PLEASE slow down as you approach a roundabout and USE YOUR TURN SIGNALS!
Went to our annual DVDS Flower show and this was the first time we entered some On-Scape daylilies.
Didn’t do too bad for our first time….not really knowing what we are doing as exhibitors.
One of ours almost made it to the Head Table.
We took a class last weekend to learn how to groom the plants. It’s a meticulous job (Michelle says Pain in the Ars), but she’s just as OCD as I am.
All last week we walked around the garden putting flags at ones we thought would be good. That part was fun, the “frustrating” ( I’m being kind), part was trying to fill out the tags with all the classification info.
We lived through it, thinking “never again” and then we get there to find out no, we did not need all that info.
So….yea, it was fun.
Last bloom of the season and she is putting up a good fight to show off that SHE CAN!!
“Believe”, Best -2016
Wow, what a truly wonderful treat we had in the garden last night!!
We had several Plein Air Artist come to paint in the garden last night.
It is AMAZING to watch them create their paintings. What an honor it was for us, and they really liked the garden, so that is quite an honor as well!!
We had a young neighbor girl stop by too. She and her mother had visited the garden during our Sunday Open Garden Tour and here the mom is an art teacher and her daughter just started college as an art major (and they both love daylilies, so we had a lot to talk about).
Well Hope (the daughter) came over to see the artists and brought her paints. It was so great to see her talking with them. What a wonderful experience to share! Looks like she may be joining their group for more painting experiences.
(Btw, you can see their works on display at Purple Robin Reserve LLC right here in Lititz).
All of their paintings were fabulous and they did a little critique session after they were done. Unless you are a part of it, you just don’t get to see and experience something like this and it really was special to be able to enjoy it with them!!
Thank you so much!!
This is the second time a Plein Air group has visited the garden and I must say, I think that is my favorite time in the garden, even though it was so hot.
The garden was so naked last night. We live headed and we usually don’t.
But…..this morning it is just as beautiful as ever!
Yes, it’s really hot out there but the Daylilies are still happy and we are still in peak bloom, so there are lots of cool things to see in the garden today and tomorrow!
9am - 4 pm
“Unknown Soldier”, Best, 2015 is really showing off today! Perfect timing, I just love this plant.
I love the name, I love the cristate texture, and I especially love the place of honor that we have it planted in.
Thank you Brad at Rainbow Hill Daylily Farm for creating this one!
What a beautiful night to walk around the garden enjoying the barefoot grass while it lasts!
Top it off with an Orange Creamcycle smoothy and the feel like 94 degree weather doesn’t matter!
We have been working on this cross! This is the best we have seen. It is Wacky Wednesday x Explosion in the Paint Factory. First time blooming!
Rain, beautiful rain!!
We will not have an open garden today, June 30th. We are still at the Region 3 Summer Meeting. Enjoy these photos from our weekend trip.
But not in this heat!
Holy Moly Alfred!!! It’s too dangerous to be retired!
I didn’t see the baby Robin next to the hose bucket but the mom sure saw me!
She swooped down and tried to peck my head!
Thank God Michelle opened the door just as momma Robin landed on my head or she would have pecked me.
Scared the bejesus out of me!
(Turn the sound on, it’s too funny!!)
In spite of the hot weather, we had such a wonderful day in the garden as part of the Pennsylvania Heartland Herb Society’s “ Herbal Delights 40th Garden Bus Tour”.
There were (4) buses with (65) people on each bus. We’ve never had that many people in the garden at one time and thanks to my sister Diane Young, Kathy Clark and our neighbor Don (the Iris guy), we had plenty of help.
Michelle did a demonstration on digging and dividing daylilies and I did one on hybridizing daylilies.
It was really great to talk daylilies with so many other gardeners.
This is AMAZING!!
