Fall Stormwater Pollution Prevention Reminders:

🍂 Never put anything into a storm drain, drainage ditch, or the street
🍂 Always clean up after your pet. Place the pet waste in the trash or toilet
🍂 Use fertilizers and pesticides sparingly and only if they are actually needed
🍂 Dispose of leaves and grass clippings at Morrison County's compost site (located in Little Falls on West River Road between Wabash and the Morrison County Public Works building. For more info, call 320-632-0121)
🍂 Wash your vehicle on the grass or take it to a commercial car wash
🍂 Recycle motor oil, antifreeze, and other auto fluids at an auto parts store and check your car for leaking oil, antifreeze, brake fluid, etc.
🍂 Drop off household hazardous waste like oil-based paints, fertilizers, spot/stain removers, and solvents/de-greasers at the Morrison County Landfill
🍂 Grass clippings & leaves not swept up after lawn maintenance can clog storm drains and carry excess nutrients, fertilizers, and herbicides to our waterways. Yard waste deposited into the City street is a violation of the City Code
🍂 “The drain is just for rain"

The Little Falls Fire Department and the American Red Cross in Minnesota installed 124 alarms in 47 homes in Little Falls and the surrounding area on September 17th, 2024!!! THANK YOU to everybody who helped with this event!!!

As a reminder – In March of 2024, the due date for utility payments changed from the 5th of the month to the 25th of the month. Notice of this change was sent to residents with their utility bill, as well as posted on the Morrison County Record, City Website, and Facebook account. Additionally, penalties were not assessed to accounts for March – June to give residents time to change their auto pay dates on the online payment portal.

If you have received penalties and believe you are set up on self-initiated auto pay, you will need to log into your account and change your payment date to reflect the new due date. The City does not have access to your online account and is unable to change the date on our end. Instructions to change your payment date are as follows:

City of Little Falls, MN Under general supervision of the Street and Park Superintendent, performs a variety of tasks involving maintenance, repair, installation and construction of park and recreation grounds, facilities, and equipment.

Homeowners David and Suzann Kordell were presented with an honorary bronze plaque identifying their home at 414 1st Ave NE as a Century Home in the Century Homes Recognition Program; a program created by the Little Falls Heritage Preservation Commission to honor homes over 100 years old that have retained their historic appearance, and to preserve residential architectural development in the City!

Interesting facts about this home:
• Built in 1914.
• Has the original interior doors, banister, woodwork, floors, and poured basement.
• There is evidence of this home being originally the Sears Robuck home.

Devon and Meghan Ziegler purchased and restored the historic home at 902 Hillton Road “The Old P.W. Hayes Farm” in December 2023. The home was originally built in 1881 by Patrick W. Hayes, a renowned and well-respected historical figure of the early years of both Little Falls and Morrison County. Hayes, a pioneer and community leader, contributed significantly to the town, including being one of the founders of the Little Falls Fire Department. The Ziegler's have discovered rich history of the home and its previous owner(s) and tenants through extensive research. They aim to preserve the house's legacy and are excited to have received an honorary award for their efforts in restoring this historic property!

🚧 ROAD CLOSURE 🚧

Effective June 24th, 2024:

153rd Street (from 18th Street NE to Mary Lane - highlighted in red on the map) will be closed for sanitary sewer and watermain installation. We do not have a project end date at this time but will continue to provide updates!
