This week, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) blamed kratom for 28 cases of salmonella in 20 states. They have not specified a brand of kratom or source of the "outbreak".

According to the CDC, there are 1 million cases of salmonella in the United States every year. That amounts to about 2740 cases per day.

According to the American Kratom Association, 3 to 5 million people in the United States use kratom, which is 1-1.5% of the population.

Therefore, it is reasonable to say that of the 2740 cases of salmonella EACH DAY in this country, 27 to 41 of those cases are kratom users.

Unless there is proof that kratom caused this so-called outbreak, this is nothing out of the ordinary. Roughly 27-41 kratom users get salmonella every day from sources other than kratom, so why is this considered news?

This is a clear attempt to bolster the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's argument for scheduling kratom under the Controlled Substances Act. Science is out the window at this point. They are fear-mongering to further their perverse agenda and protect Big Pharma.
