Yesterday I had a great time talking about herbal adaptogens and nervines and mocktail making over at Homsted Apothecary! Check out their online store for products such as the Relax tincture, which is a perfect for mocktail making at home!

It is available at: https://www.homsted.com/homsted-tincture-formulations-headache-relief.html

For the easiest mocktails ever:
Add 2-4 ounces of your favorite juice over ice in a 8-12 ounce glass.
Then 3-4 droppers full of your favorite tincture.
I like unsweetened cherry, pomegranate or blueberry for this.
Cover with sparkling water or ginger ale. Garnish with citrus or mint and voila!

Herbal bliss!

Yeah....this one has some special meaning for me lately.

I actually made this post MONTHS ago, and subsequently neglected my socials for months.

I WAS constantly comparing my progress to others in regard to my business. I was struggling enough with my own life and putting myself and my voice out there can be a huge task for me. Now I am actively re-writing that mental narrative for myself.

I have been doing some deep healing work in my throat chakra over the last year. I have discovered that speaking my truth involves dismantling a sense of shame and duty to anyone but myself.

Recognizing when my clients and patients speak their truth and in turn speaking my TRUTH is essential in my work as a naturopathic doctor, because telling the TRUTH to ourselves and others is healing.

Are there areas of your life would benefit if you could mind your own business more than worrying about others' progress or their opinions of your process?

06/14/2023

Did you know I also offer visits specifically for homeopathy, flower essences and herbal medicine?

You get the same in-depth intake process, but we focus solely on one of these healing modalities to help you meet your health goals.

Homeopathy and flower essences are great for healing underlying emotional or nervous system stress that is often a major cause of chronic symptoms like mood swings and concentration issues. They are gentle enough to use with other medications or integrative treatment plans for both kids and adults.

In my herbal medicine visits, I custom formulate 1-2 tinctures, teas or other herbal medicines specifically for you. You can order your custom blend through me, or have fun sourcing and working with herbs on your own and deepen your connection to the medicine.

These individual modality visits types are great for if you are already working with another functional or holistic practitioner, or want to try something new.

My comprehensive naturopathic medicine visits include labs, and full protocols including lifestyle, nutrition, nutrients, herbs and homeopathy.

But if you are in Colorado and curious about these different visit types or want to learn more about me and my practice, you can book a discover consult to see which services may be right for you. Check out to link in my bio to book 📅

Yesterday we talked about preventing heartburn in pregnancy (and otherwise), but what about when you are feeling the burn?

Here are my favorite herbs to consider for immediate relief:

DGL-deglycyrrhizinated licorice is best as chewable tablets and can be taken as needed, especially after meals.

Marshmallow root tea is actually best brewed cold and strong, strong enough that the mixture becomes mucilaginous, which is what is most soothing to the irritated upper digestive tract.

Powdered Slippery Elm bark is another soothing, mucilaginous herb that can be added to tea, or mixed into oats or applesauce to make a paste or gruel. You could even take it as a shot when needed for heartburn attacks.

Aloe's inner leaf juice is another top cooling and soothing herb for fiery, burning reflux. Avoid any product that does not specify that it is the inner leaf, as the outer leaf contains latex that is a stimulating laxative (you don't want that).

Peppermint can be a trigger for some peoples' reflux, but for others can be soothing. It is also a cooling herb and if it works for you, can be super helpful for stimulating digestion before or even right after meals.

Although these particular herbs are generally safe in pregnancy, always ask your naturopathic doctor what herbs are right for you 🩺🌿

06/13/2023

Did you know that heartburn affects 30-50% of pregnant women? Although most common in the third trimester, it can happen at any time, even for those without a history of heartburn before pregnancy.

Here are some tips to help prevent heartburn:

Avoid large amount of common triggers of heartburn including coffee, spicy foods, fried or fatty foods, chocolate, acidic foods like tomatoes or citrus.

Eat smaller, more frequent meals that always contain a source of protein.

Avoid laying down right after meals.

Chew your food toughly. You can even consider chewing xylitol gum right after meals to stimulate saliva, which decreases the acidity and soothes the esophagus.

Consider raising the just the head of your bed at least 4 inches to sleep on an incline.

These tips could apply to everyone, not just our expecting mamas 😉

I chatted with the expert, on her IG live today where we discussed these tips and some 🌿

I think resolutions get a bad wrap.

The problem with most resolutions is that they tend to be these huge over-arching goals that we are constantly striving towards, but never achieving.

If your goal is to change your entire body, habits, routines, it will fail.

The shift I am seeing on social media away from resolutions towards intentions or affirmations is important!

It is not that you can't make goals, but getting real about them and going for smaller, more attainable goals over time is key 🔑

My patients know I am more interested in their inner dialogue and how their mindset and attitude are either setting them up for success, or hindering it than any conventional metrics of "health."

What are your affirmations or intentions for this year?

I intend to be more mindful around abundance in all forms. I intend to show up for myself and do the work in areas which I have struggled with consistency the past.

More importantly, I celebrating all the ways I already I show up and do the work for myself consistently. For me this is going to counseling, being honest in my relationships and constantly learning about my passions.

What would it look like for you to commit to embracing yourself just how you are now? What if you could spend the month celebrating what you are already good at rather than all the ways you think you should change?

Sending lots of love to all of you, wherever you are on your journey ✨💕

12/31/2022

May you discover everything you are looking for in the new year right inside yourself ✨

12/16/2022

My name is on my new office door! Using the Circut machine and working with the peel and stick vinyl for the first time was a challenge of patience for sure!

It's not perfect. Will I let it big me, probably. Will I fix it, I hope so, but for today I'm happy it's up!

How's your Friday going?

12/15/2022

I just got the cutest care package from 📦🌼🌿 I cannot wait to try the new Deep Stress formula with ashwagandha, because who doesn't love ashwagandha?!

If you didn't already know I've become obsessed with Wish Gardens formulas. Not only do I use them daily for myself and my family, I recommend their products to my patients here in CO (also their home state), and clients all over the country 🌎

Their Deep Stress formula also features Tulsi/holy basil too which is a personal favorite adaptogen of mine!

What more could a girl ask for out of self care with a mineral bath from and the calming aroma of
Escentual Love candle ? 🕯️🛀

Thank you Wish Garden 😘💕

"My body is a garden rooted in gratitude. Thank you is the biggest poem I've got inside of me," Sabrina Benaim from her book Depression & Other Magic Tricks.

My heart is overwhelmed today with so much to be thankful for. Part of me aches over all the changes over this year. I miss my loved ones who have passed, and others that I won't be able to be with today. I am thankful for them all. I am thankful for the time and resources to make delicious food and being able to share it today.

I am thankful for my pets, who wake up early and keep me company while I finish up some work. I am thankful for my husband and all the fun memories we are making our first year being married.

I know that this season is hard for a lot of us. I encourage you to reach out if you can. I am here to lend an ear and offer support if today is feeling that way for you. I am grateful for your work, your life and the opportunities available to us all that we do not even realize yet.

Sending you lots of love today and everyday, Dr. Bethany

Guess what? I got married at the end of the summer!

As a naturopathic doctor, sustainability was super important to me when it came to our wedding, especially my flowers.

I knew I wanted a local organic grower and found the fabulous Gina at in Arvada, CO.

My bouquet absolutely blew me away. The sage greens were such a calming aroma for the day, and white echinacea was another medicinal flower. They were a stunning nod to my love of all things herbal medicine. The hydrangeas dried beautifully, and I was so thankful to have a truly personalized floral experience.

Shout out to and .hair.babe of for our hair!

The gorgeous Stephanie with Simple Beauty Makeup created our looks.

Thank you all to all the amazing women who helped me feel and look my best for my wedding 💐
