As of tomorrow, October 1, we will be moving to our fall/winter hours. The store will open at 9am every day, and close at 6pm Monday-Saturday and 3pm on Sunday.
Last call for submissions for the Cold Snap Film Festival! The deadline closes Oct 1 and we want to see what awesome ski, bike, hike, fishing and other adventures films you’ve got. Reach out to [email protected] with any questions.
Co-owner Dale Sexton found some fall colors this past week. Fish are still eating chubbies and hoppers well!
Bike tech Jordan recently bought his 4 year old, McKenna, a Specialized P.1 Trail and she is loving it! Getting kids outside and active is one of the most fun parts of being a parent, and we’ve got a variety of kids bikes to fit all ages and skill levels. Don’t miss out on fall riding!
Montana’s Stream Access Rule is truly something to celebrate. We enjoy some of the best access to public lands and waters due to this law and while it gives us unprecedented access to our state’s waterways, it remains under threat.
On Wednesday, October 2, Yellow Dog, along with Bozeman-based Simms Fishing and Skwala Fishing, Patagonia, Madison Gallatin Trout Unlimited, Montana Backcountry Hunters & Anglers, Public Land and Water Access, will be holding A Rally For Montana Stream Access. The event will be held at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds in Exhibit Building 1 from 5:30-7:30PM.
The event is free to attend and will feature live music, food trucks and a bar. Join in and show your love and support for this incredible place we call home!
When know it’s getting to be the end of the season when the front of the store looks like a jungle. What a year for growth out front! We’ve really enjoyed the wonderful blooms and hope everyone else has too.
Happy First Day of Fall! The leaves are starting to change, there’s a nip in the air and there was even fresh snow in the mountains this week. Our shop is full of fall gear and apparel, so swing by to find the perfect item to ward off the cool weather!
A big thank you to everyone who voted for us as “The Best Fly Shop In Park County” in the recent poll from the Park County Community Journal! We are humbled and very grateful for your support.
Fall weather and fleecy jackets are a match made in heaven. Our shelves and racks are filling up with fall arrivals from your favorite outdoor brands. Come check out the new jackets, vests, fleeces, flannels, hats, and more!
As the seasons change, so is our store. With fall and winter coming up fast we need to make some room! Come in and find some great deals and markdowns on select bikes and bike accessories, men’s and women’s summer apparel, sandals and select shoes, skateboards and skate accessories and more. Look for the yellow sale signs.
Congrats to Valerie N., the winner of the Park County Environmental Council and Park High Green Initiative’s recent E-Bike Raffle. All the funds from raffle ticket sales are being put toward an electric school bus charging station. Enjoy the bike Valerie!
Before and after the Yellowstone Gateway 30k with our co-owner Dale Sexton. A huge congrats to Dale for not only finishing, but winning his age class!
There aren’t too many summery weekend mountain sunrises left this year. Go make the most of it this weekend!
Luck is a funny thing. As anglers, it’s woven into our culture. We believe if you’re lucky enough to touch a fish (regardless of size) in our incredible state, you’re lucky enough! Happy Friday the 13th.
Due to a scheduled power outage this morning, our store will be closed until 10:30am. Sorry for the inconvenience, and we’ll see you after then!
The mountains are still there, we promise! The smoke over the last few days has been impressively bad, as shown in this photo looking over the Yellowstone River toward town and Livingston Peak taken this morning. If you’re planning on doing anything too physical outside, it might not bad a bad idea to postpone for a few days. A weather change with cooler temps and rain is due tomorrow afternoon, so fingers crossed that clears the air. Hang in there, this won't last forever!
Rick and Minori took part in the Yellowstone River Cleanup yesterday morning, and they chose to clean up the Dan Bailey fishing access. Overall they said it wasn’t too bad, mainly some trash and a few cans. A huge thank you to everyone who took part in the cleanup, and to Give Back Yellowstone and Montana Freshwater Partners for organizing this important event.
What hikes are your list for the rest of the season? If you aren’t sure where to go, check out our Favorite Hikes series! You can find the full list and info on our website, or stop by the shop and our helpful staff will point you in the right direction.
The summer Thursday night rides might be over, but the fun doesn’t have to stop! A huge thank you to everyone who participated this summer, it’s always a good time. We’d encourage everyone to follow Livingston Bicycle Club and get involved not only for the fun events and happenings, but to pitch in on projects and help make our biking community the best it can be.
We’ve had a few chilly mornings lately! While afternoon highs tell us it’s still definitely summer here in SW Montana, chilly weather isn’t too far away. Be ready for it with a cozy new fleece, jacket, or vest from our incredible selection of brands.
Norman Maclean is one of the most well known authors to come out of Montana, and certainly one of the most famous fly fishing authors ever. Wheatgrass Books & Gifts is hosting a reading of a newly released biography of Maclean by author Rebecca McCarthy on Thursday, September 5th at 6pm. Her unique perspective of Maclean, not only as the author we know him as, but as a personal friend, shines through in her book. If you’re a fan of A River Runs Through It, or literature as a whole, don’t miss it!
Happy Labor Day! Our store will be closing at 3pm today, so our staff can get out and enjoy a break. We hope you can get outside today and enjoy everything Montana has to offer.
The submission deadline for our Cold Snap Film Festival is coming up! Films are due October 1, 2024. We’d love to see some more from our incredibly talented pool of local filmmakers. Have any questions? Reach out and let us know!
Summer is slipping away, but don’t worry - there’s still time to get out and soak up every minute of it. Don’t wait! Summer is always fleeting here in Montana but that just makes it more special.
