Modeling behavior. Being a firestarter and an example setter. It's one of the first things you do as a leader. Great graphic that shows that you are ALWAYS modeling behavior, one way or another.
I really loved this and had to share.
Children need more than just words, they want you. They want to know if their own parent thinks they are worthy enough to play with.
And when they ask, if you could show just the right amount enthusiasm in your voice and most importantly in your eyes and sit down next to them and play.
Self-esteem is built on the knowledge that a person feels worthy as a human being. That someone thinks you're worthy of their time. That a parent likes them enough to WANT to play with them. That someone wants to hear what they have to say, even if it's talking about their favorite cartoon. The Secure Child knows that their parents not only loves them, but actually likes them as an individual.🥰
❤️go play with them. The times flying by ❤️
I'm this parent. It has to do with commitment. After watching a class or taking a tour, my child and I sit down to discuss if this is something he really wants to try. If the answer is yes, then we commit. I pre-frame that there is no backing out. If its a sport, then the team is relying on his commitment. If its an art class, then its about personal growth and not about comparing his work with anyone else's. We discuss that it takes grit to commit. It takes grit to get up when you don't want to, or if you feel lazy, or its easier to let things go. And yes, I spent my hard earned money, so we are not going to waste that either.

Afterschool can be an Adventure
Ambrose Wing Chun Do Introduces Keep Kids Safe Afterschool Program
Hello, my name is Elizabeth Ambrose, program director and instructor for the Keep Kids Safe Afterschool Program, a program dedicated to the physical and mental well-being of children.
A welcoming and nurturing after school environment, Keep Kids Safe Afterschool Program offers the benefits of movement and exercise, children safety awareness, martial arts and much more. Ambrose Academy of Wing Chun Do in Livonia recognized a need for a program dedicating eight months (school year) to life skills of success, safety and the personal growth of the whole child in a safe structured environment.
Our Livonia school district recently announced a program for their schools that focuses on character building skills. What you may not know, is that the characters traits of success that build up our children, schools and our communities are the exact traits of success that are part of many martial art schools’ creed and inherent in the curriculum, that of respect, empathy, integrity, discipline, responsibility, and confidence. Children practice in goal setting, precision, mindfulness, and develop true grit.
Our program offers those opportunities over and over. Developing and retaining these abilities means that children need experiences and practice in acquiring these traits of success. They have to feel confident enough to implement these new skills. Moreover, they need to feel safe in their environment, to feel acceptance and trust from and for the people around them, and to feel secure mentally and physically.
