These 5 scouts braved the heat in Castaic to finish there final weekend of NYLT. We look forward to the leadership skills they bring back to Troop 65.

Here are some of our Troop 65 scouts, along with other LB Troops, braving Philmont! We’re proud of these scouts and their adventurous spirits!

PRE-SUMMER CAMP

This past weekend, Troop 65 Scouts traveled to Caspers Wilderness to camp, hike, and teach Scout skills, leadership, awards, and requirements for new Scouts.

Scouts taught skills and safety in starting fires, chopping wood, lashing structures, first-aid tourniquets, treating wounds in the field, flag etiquette, and conducting flag ceremonies.

A sunrise hike starting at 4:30am and a trip to the Nature Center.

Great weekend for Troop 65 with other Scouts attending NYLT and those heading to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.

The Troop 65 scout leaders are back from the first half of NYLT. A little more dirt and a lot more knowledge gained!

It’s a busy weekend for Troop 65! These five scout leaders are spending this weekend and next at NYLT (National Youth Leadership Training). Another group are heading to Philmont while others are preparing our younger scouts for summer camp at presummer camp! Happy scouting!

Last night Troop 65 was kicking off the summer with a flag ceremony at the Lakewood concert in the park. The scouts did a great job and the U2 tribute band was pretty impressive!

Andrew Fellows Eagle Court yesterday was a great event! Thank you to all who came out to celebrate another Troop 65 Eagle! Congratulations Andrew!

Nice work scouts! They did a nice job helping Pack 75 run games while the parents had a meeting.

PATROL ESCAPE ROOM CHALLENGE

This past Saturday, Troop 65 Patrols searched for clues and challenged themselves to work as a team to complete a mystery.

Great experience and unique team-building exercise.

The troop had elections tonight and then celebrated Andrew’s 18th birthday. Troop 65 will miss you!

The eagle patrol practiced semaphore for Camporee and sold pancake tickets in between the rain. Don’t have flag use hangers!

TROOP 65 AT JOSHUA TREE!

This past weekend, Troop 65 Scouts travelled to Joshua Tree National Park for dual adventures.

Scouts backpacked into wilderness campsites on the Boy Scout Trail near Indian Cove. Four first-time backpackers learned the skills of carrying only the necessary essentials on their back.

Scouts also learned the ropes of rock climbing from Long Beach Area Council Climbing Instructors. Many overcame their fear of heights and the experience of rappelling off of a rock wall.

Thank you Howard Ito for organizing the rock climb. Great experience!

TROOP 65 EAGLE PROJECT

This past weekend, Troop 65 Scout Andrew Fellows along with several volunteers completed his Eagle Project.

Andrew built a GaGa Ball Pit on school grounds at Knot Avenue Christian Church for pre-schoolers.

TROOP 65 AT AFTON CANYON!

Last weekend, Troop 65 Scouts travelled to the Mojave Desert for this year's Desert Camp.

Scouts were challenged with an 8 mile desert hike to an amazing slot canyon.

Photos include camping at Afton Canyon Campground, desert canyon hiking, navigating rivers, Saturday night campfire and exploring a dark slot canyon.
