Scout Executive Marc Bonner spent the past four days leading 16 District Executives from across the country in their District Operations Basic training. The course took place at the Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center.
Sharing some of our favorite Cub BOO Ree photos! This past weekend, nearly 500 people spent the weekend with us camped out at Lakeview Park by Irvine Lake. To put on an event this fun and this big takes many hands, so a resounding *thank you* to all who played a part!

"Exciting news! 🎉 Cub Scouts from Pack 205 were invited by the Carver Elementary School principal to lead the Pledge of Allegiance! 🇺🇸 Congratulations to these future leaders—we couldn’t be prouder of how you’re representing our community of Scouts and families! 👏 Keep up the great work!"
🌟 Big Shoutout to Jaime Martinez! 🌟
Jaime has been hard at work recruiting for both Cub Scouts and Scouts! 🚀 He recently spread the word at two major events: the Jog-a-Thon at Our Lady of Refuge on October 4th and the Fest of All on October 12th, an event celebrating culture through music. 🎶🎉 Jaime successfully recruited over 20 new families while showcasing the character-building, adventure, and community spirit that Scouting represents to over 2,000 families!
Thank you, Jaime, for your dedication and for promoting the values of Scouting!
An Eagle Scout playing for the Detroit Lions! You might see David Montgomery playing on Sundays making an impact on the football field, but before he was scoring touchdowns at the highest level, he was earning merit badges.
While David was creating a local name for himself on the high school field in Cincinnati, off the field he was developing important life and leadership skills as a member of Boy Scout Troop 772, eventually earning Eagle Scout status.
Fun facts: David was also a Pinewood Derby champ! Fishing was his favorite merit badge. And his brother Samuel, is also an Eagle Scout!
Last few hours to register for Cub BOO Ree! Registration closes tonight!! Get in while you can, text your friends, email them the link. We have over 350 people registered so far... you won't want to miss this family fun weekend campout.

Appreciation post for Mrs. Matus, one of our program leaders in the after-school Scouting program we call ScoutReach.
This Scout was so proud to show off her drawing. Mrs. Matus is the proud mom of an Eagle Scout and continues to give back to Scouting!
Thank you to board member Steve Keesal and his wife Hope for opening their beautiful home today for a nice evening social. Nice to see so many friends and community supporters of Scouting.
Line Fire Update #10: as of late afternoon Thursday 10/3, firefighters have significantly strengthened fire lines and increased containment on the Line Fire despite hot and dry weather.
The attached photo of the fire from Keller Peak shows that any smoke production is well inside the fire’s perimeter. This condition may continue for a month or more as material burns out within the black. This is good news. Control and mop-up efforts will continue for weeks, but with any luck we are starting to see the end game... again!
Line Fire Update #9: yesterday brought optimistic progress. The entire eastern flank of the fire that spans the Santa Ana River drainage now has a constructed fire line in place. The fire edge is cooling on the Big Bear Ridge/south aspect side and firefighters are confident that line will hold.
Firefighters are continuing to extend hose lines on the north aspect/Hwy. 38 side, but it also looks promising.
Given another day of similar progress today, Camp Tahquitz should be back in a pretty good place! Incredibly good work by fire personnel for which we are most thankful.
Earn the law merit badge! We're giving our Facebook friends the first crack at signing up for this class. It's limited to the first 20 Scouts!
This class is coming up soon. Must attend **both** dates, it's not an either/or. Easy RSVP here: igfn.us/form/oR8U5w
Line Fire Update #8: Folks, we're unfortunately back at this. The fire is closing in on 1 to 2 miles from Camp Tahquitz. Dozer crews are currently actively working on camp property.
Yesterday, unexpected offshore winds developed due to very high temperatures over the deserts yesterday morning. While this held the fire from threatening Big Bear, these northerly winds drove fire growth to the south towards Highway 38 by late afternoon. The fire made a hard run around 5PM and bumped SR38 with high intensity about 2 miles east of Angelus Oaks. The fire is 43,492 acres and 76% contained this morning.
Today will be hot and dry again. The wind change will likely reoccur today and may reoccur over the next several days, repeating the wind orientation from yesterday.
There is an alignment of wind, slope, and fuels for additional spread in the Santa Ana drainage towards Camp, both along the river and along SR38.
Camp Tahquitz is in danger, however Joe and Kerry have evacuated and are safe. Please continue to keep everyone in your thoughts and prayers. This is a critical time.

A rather good article posted on Aaron on Scouting today!
"It’s 2024, so when you sign up for something or ask a question online, you probably expect to get a response pretty quickly.
That’s also true for the thousands of people on BeAScout.org looking to join Scouting or get more information on a Scouting unit.
Here’s what you need to know: The BeAScout system isn’t fully automatic. It relies on Scout leaders like you to connect with those people applying or looking for more information." Click to read the full article below!
Here's one of the easiest things you can do to help people join Scouting When you sign up for something online, you expect to get a response quickly. Responding quickly is one of the ways you can help people join Scouting.
