California Council on Gerontology and Geriatrics is hosting a showcase next Thursday. Join CCGG on April 25th from 9-11am on Zoom to hear from students, faculty, and other aging professionals about their research! The short presentations will cover ideas about aging gracefully through a documentary, older learners using health services on campus, the use of a friendly caller program post-covid, and how poetry can be a powerful tool in nursing homes!

We are looking for abstract submissions to present research, research in progress, or projects!

Dr. Mary Marshall received the Purdue University Center on Aging and the Life Course 2023 Outstanding Professor Award. This award recognizes exceptional teaching and mentoring of emerging scholars in aging and acknowledges significant contributions to pedagogy at the university level. Mary enjoyed returning to her Alma Mater this fall to receive this award!
Congratulations to Dr. Maria Carpiac on her recognition for excellent teaching! Dr. Carpiac received The Cognella Innovation in Teaching Award for Family Science from Cognella and the National Council on Family Relations. Maria received this award for her outstanding work in her Women in Aging (Golden Girls) class and NCFR notes, "We’re thrilled to honor Dr. Carpiac’s dedication to advocacy, research, and teaching in the areas of aging and gerontology."

There are 8,220 full-time practicing geriatricians in the United States, and there will be a 50% increase in demand for geriatricians between 2018 and 2030. About 30% of adults older than age 65 need a geriatrician. Careers in Gerontology matter!!

The Fall Showcase will be held on Thursday, November 30th, from 9:00-11:30am and will be held via Zoom.
We welcome abstracts which examine a variety of gerontology and geriatric issues such as housing/lack of housing, scientific, education, social justice, workforce development, policy, and advocacy issues in the field of aging.
