The Breath of Life Africa aims to deliver life-saving innovations where they’re most needed during the COVID-19 pandemic while establishing a foundation to foster global health resilience.
Uganda, a nation of 44 million, had only 13 fully-trained neurosurgeons in 2020. Now it has only 12. John Baptist Mukasa, age 54 and a pioneering neurosurgeon in his homeland, died of COVID-19 on June 29.
Pandemic Loss: Pioneering Ugandan Neurosurgeon Was A 'Servant Of The People' John Baptist Mukasa is one of the 4 million-plus people around the globe who have died because of this pandemic. His death is a reminder of the devastating toll of COVID-19.

In early 2020 there weren't enough ventilators for Covid patients, but by August, United States was oversupplied with them; however, in Africa less than 2k working ventilators support nearly 1b people.
