Rest easy Steve
Sad news…
I just learned that Steve Slutzah (NSNC), passed away. I don’t know all of the details, but he had gone into the hospital last week, and his wife emailed Corinne Ho today to tell her that he had passed.
Aside from his work with the Northridge South Neighborhood Council and Canoga Park Neighborhood Council, he was also involved with PALS And was a volunteer with the Topanga Division. Steve cared deeply about the safety and welfare of the people living in his community, and his presence and determination to that goal will be sorely missed.
My heartfelt condolences to his wife, family, friends and his community for which he cared so deeply.
His wife asked that we pass the word to those who knew him.
From Garza

This year will mark the 31st Anniversary of the Canoga Park Memorial Day Parade. The Canoga Park • West Hills Chamber with the Canoga Park Community Center is proud to be your host for this wonderful tribute to our fallen men and women. The parade also allows our communities to show our respect to veterans, active military, and first responders.
Every year, we have over 30,000 spectators and 1,000 participants who join us. This year, we would love to get more people and organizations involved who would like to help sponsor or may have contacts for celebrities, school bands, etc. to be participants. This parade has been nationally recognized and belongs to everyone. It reflects positively on the entire Valley, the City of LA, our sponsors, and participants. Please contact Joellen Ammann at (818) 277 -7883 or email us at [email protected] and join us in this positive community effort.
Please come to our first meeting of 2023 and bring a friend. Everyone is welcome to hear a guest speaker, followed by light refreshments with friends in the Canoga-Owensmouth Historical Society Museum, and it's free! Wednesday January 11, at 7 p.m. in historic Fire Station 72, 7248 Owensmouth, Canoga Park, 91303.

I am deeply inspired by the Canoga Park community members I have been fortunate to engage with this year. It brings me joy to celebrate their good work and commitment. We have one more event for 2022 that will be so special.
DCA’s Performing Arts Division presents Walking In Our Light at the Taxco Theatre on December 3, 2022 at 4:30 p.m. Walking In Our Light is a procession beginning at the Taxco Theatre with the residents of Canoga Park and surrounding neighborhoods who will gather and walk together as a united community. The walk celebrates and honors the light in each person, family, community organization, and business that created a safe and nurturing neighborhood for all to thrive. Under the guidance of the theatre director, Jon Lawrence Rivera, the community event will have moments of dance, music, and poetry representing artists and varied cultures of the neighborhood. Community partners include: the Office of Councilmember Bob Blumenfield, StrengthUnited, Alliance for Community Empowerment, the Boys and Girls Club, Child Development Institute, Canoga Park Women's Club, and others. Procession will begin at 7242 Owensmouth with a community reception to follow.
Join me at my Holiday Gathering and Collection Drive on December 8th from 4-7pm at Tarzana Community & Cultural Center. Team Blumenfield will be collecting toys, nonperishable dry and canned goods, hygiene products, and more to be distributed among less fortunate members of the community.
