Ladies, do you have any advice for new mommies? Comment below.
Here are some more practical tips that can help after you've given birth. Remember you don't have to do it alone and you don't have to do it all.
Have someone help you with house chores and focus on you and the baby.
You don't have to be a perfect mom. Kids just want you to be happy, and in that happiness you spend time with them, listen to how they feel and help process those emotions. Don't be perfect, be present.
Often traditional medicine only takes care of a piece of a woman. Women are whole beings and they need whole-woman care. Part of my job is to be an advocate for you but also to help you be an advocate for yourself. This sometimes means knowing when to reach out for help and being open about how you're feeling, physically and mentally. And if you're going through something you know many other women out there are also going through the same.
What We love about Needed.
Three births. We love this.
The Changemakers program is launching this week and I’m proud to be part of this movement. Needed Changemakers is a collective of women’s health practitioners that represent complete perinatal care. Changemakers include doctors, midwives, doulas, psychologists, registered dietitians, researchers, and other perinatal nutrition and health experts and advocates. Together, our diverse experience and shared mission for optimal perinatal health inspire us to design products, provide education, and promote community empowerment and advocacy to change the perinatal nutrition paradigm. A collective voice is needed to improve outcomes for all women and their babies, and it starts NOW.
And by handle I mean, do nothing, do something, do whatever keeps your peace and joy entact.
Pretty often I get ask by dads-to-be how they advocate for their partner when she ready to give birth. These are all great ways. BRAIN (benefits, risks, alternatives, intuition and nothing) is a good rule of thumb when you’re presented with a decision and don’t know where to start. Ask your doctor/doula/midwife, What are the benefits? What are the risks? What are the alternatives? Also pay attention to your intuition, what is it saying? And lastly what happens if we do nothing? Allow them to answer these questions. Get all the information and decide together.
Expecting Dads, planning ahead can be a life saver. Here are some things you can get started on.
😳Don't forget your own bag of toiletries and clothes.
🤨Check with your hospital about bringing an air mattress to sleep on.
🤓Have extra cash on hand for those quick food or vending machine runs.
Motivating yourself daily will not only change how you feel but also how you think. Happy Tuesday everyone!
Thank you to all our patients, partners and friends for supporting Phabulous Care and our vision. We appreciate you more than you know.
We hope 2022 brings you lots of peace, joy and good health.
There’s a lot of birthing templates out there. The Bumps template is really comprehensive and you can fill it all out online. See link in Linktree. Here you'll be able to fill out a PDF, then download to save and print. Hope this helps.
Become who you are meant to be.
Expecting Dads, as you prepare yourself and begin to look at birthing videos, please know there are various labor and birth scenarios. Depending on your birthing plan, you might want to start there first and then familiarize yourself with the other scenarios as a back-up plan. Preparing yourself with what you'll see, hear and potentially smell will help you become a confident and unphased partner.
Looking for a gift for the expecting dad. These are the top 3 Expecting Father books that we at Phabulouscare love. These books give a good picture on what you should expect during your partner's pregnancy and delivery. As well as what you need to prepare. The Linktree in bio has direct links.
A daily affirmation.
Whenever you feel doubtful, limited, faithless, just remember that everything will work out in the end.
You don't have to know how or what. Just trust and believe that it will.
Here are some more tips for partners on what you can do after the new mom gives birth. Remember you’re not a helper, you are a parent now.
Labor can be a long and arduous process and the new mommy-to-be depends on her partner to help her stay calm, protect her headspace, advocate for her and be present. The less anxiety she feels during labor the better.
