Griffith Park Train Rides

It's almost here!!

The "Not Too Scary" Halloween Train Ride and Festivities at Griffith Park Southern Railroad is every weekend in October.

First train leaves Saturday, October 5th at 10am. Check our website for all the details including ticket information, advance purchases, and more.

THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:

Griffith Park Southern RR - 4400 Crystal Springs Drive, Los Angeles

Tickets are $5 per person. Babies 18 mo and younger ride free with an adult. Children 5 years and younger must ride with an adult.

Regular tickets and value tickets do not apply to this special event. They can not be exchanged or refunded.

Visits with La Catrina or El Catrine are on a first-come-first-serve basis. Train tickets can be purchased in advance.

We are under a heat advisory in Los Angeles until Friday, 9/6. 🌡️

Our trains are open and running, and our drinking fountains work. Morning or early afternoon are the best times to visit us and still be moderately comfortable. We encourage you to bring drinking water, wear a sun hat, and wear loose fitting clothing to help stay cool.

Thankfully, our microclimate in Griffith Park means we are a few degrees cooler than many other parts of the city. Yay for trees!!

As a reminder, dogs are not allowed on our trains, so we encourage you to keep them at home or bring a friend who can sit with your dog in the shade while you ride.

We open 10am at both locations and close for a 45-min lunch break around 12:30pm. Last train is 4:30p.

WE ARE OPEN.

There was a structural fire in our maintenance area last night at Griffith Park Southern Railroad, but we are OK.

Our staff are safe. Our trains, track, and buildings are safe and unscathed. We are still assessing damage to the storage unit and its contents.

Both locations will be open and operating at our normal times.

The whole thing is incredibly upsetting, but we are grateful that it was contained and no one was hurt.

Genuinely excited to be working with to establish a Miyawaki forest of native habitat inside the tracks at Griffith Park Southern Railroad. Staff and crews pulled up sod and Cam, the Nursery Manager for LA Parks Foundation has started flagging the areas where 90 + native plants, grown here in Griffith Park, will be placed.

Us train folks nerding out about all the birds visiting us at the park lately. 🤓 🦜

Spotted today: Dark eyed Junco, House Finch, Acorn Woodpeckers, Morning (Mourning?) Doves and parrots!
