LIQUID PICNIC APPRECIATION POST!

This post is absolutely, most definitely, 100% not in response to the bad review we got because the Liquid Picnic is "pre-batched."

Ok, maybe a little bit.

I'm sure when she wrote the review she simply forgot that the cocktail takes 2 days to make and that its preparation requires a centrifuge, vita-mix, and custom-made refrigeration that can only be found at Thunderbolt.

It likely slipped her mind that all of the dilution comes from clarified tomato water -- rather than water -- and since it can't be stirred with ice, it has to be batched so we can serve it at a prefect, arctic 20 degrees F every time.

The most important thing is we're definitely not bitter about it 😵‍💫.

Anyway, the Liquid Picnic slaps and review sites are for noobs.

We’re delighted to welcome this weekend as the first stop on their “Californian Road Show,” as they tour through Los Angeles in anticipation for their opening on the rooftop of the this Spring 2023!

THIS SUNDAY, January 15th from 3-6pm, stop by as the Dante team serves up some of their award-winning cocktails, including signature creations like their Garibaldi and Dante Martini, along with live music from Dante’s resident musician, .

If you’re unable to join, Dante will also be popping up at in Venice on Monday, January 16 from 3-6pm.

Christmas came early to Thunderbolt this year, with the arrival of our first ever private batch of Destilado de Agave — a super rare Arroqueño from Miahuatlán rested in glass for 10 years — picked by from the collection of .del.sol

We’ll run a limited amount of bottles at retail in the bottle shop, with the rest living on the back bar to try by the pour.

Here are the deets for this tiny 20-liter batch:

Distilled in 2012 in Miahuatlán de Porfirio Díaz by Mtro. Raúl García Santana and his father, Mtro. Francisco García.

Sourced in Miahuatlan, the agave was crushed in a tahona mill pulled by two bulls, then twice distilled in copper alembic stills using a refrescadera.

Originally at 51% ABV, this batch has dropped to 48% over the 10 years it was matured in glass.

Last private event of the year, then we’re all yours, we promise!
