We had an amazing time celebrating Women's History Month at the Getty House. Our panel 'Breaking Barriers and Building Bridges: A Journey to Shatter the Glass Ceiling' featured inspiring women who shared their experiences overcoming obstacles and breaking the glass ceiling in their respective industries. With Giselle Fernandez as our moderator, we heard from LA Clippers' Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer Denise Booth, Blaze Technology CEO Nanxi Liu, and TV writer and producer Marta Kauffman. Let's continue supporting and uplifting women in their pursuit of success and breaking down barriers.
Mayor Bass and the Getty House Foundationās Board of Directors organized a delightful Winter Holiday Festival at Getty House. The festival was a celebration of the diversity of winter holidays and featured various arts and crafts activities, plus face painting, professional dunkers, and even real snow thanks to Councilwoman Heather Hutt.
It was a great joy to see the children immerse themselves in the festivities and enjoy the holiday spirit. This year marked the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Organization of African Unity. In Los Angeles, is a celebration of our strong and diverse African diaspora communities, our shared values, and our commitment to strengthening economic and cultural connections across the continent. We extend our gratitude to everyone who participated in the festivities at the Getty House; it was an unforgettable occasion.
We had the pleasure of hosting an inspiring afternoon with Zev Yaroslavsky and Jim Newton as part of the Getty House Foundation's speaker series. The thought-provoking conversation left us feeling energized and excited for more insightful sessions in the new year!
In October, Mayor Bass and the Getty House Foundationās Board of Directors, in partnership with the California Association of African American Superintendents and Administrators (CAAASA), California Association of Latino Superintendents and Administrators (CALSA), and California Association of Asian and Pacific Leaders in Education (CAAPLE) hosted āA Getty House Ghostly Halloween Party".
