Chabad Pico-Bais Bezalel

I wanted to share a heartwarming story that happened the Shabbat before last.

While waiting for the light to change near Walgreens on Pico and Robertson, I struck up a conversation with a fellow in the same situation. I asked him, "What's your 'waiting for the light to change' Torah thought?" Caught by surprise, he didn't have one, so I shared mine with him.

"Which shul do you go to?"

When I told him I go to Chabad Pico-Bais Bezalel , he remarked that he had once spoken to the Rabbi there. Intrigued, I told him that I was the Rabbi. He said, "you have no idea how much you changed my life", his face actually turned red. He had called me because my number was on the door of the shul and he needed a Rabbi.

"I was married to a non-Jewish woman, whose Conservative conversion I knew was dubious & not kosher."

Seeking guidance, he asked, "What should I do?"

To cut a long story short, he immediately moved to the neighborhood and is now on the brink of marrying a Jewish woman. I said, 'when you start a mitzvah, your supposed to finish it', and I offered to study the laws of family purity and marriage with him.

He hugged me and tears welled up in his eyes, "I would like that."

It really got me thinking, as we are all expecting to see the coming of Moshiach, when Hashem will change the red light of the exile to the green light of Geulah, one good thought word or action can open that door.

Never underestimate the impact you can have.

Something as simple as using a capital letter instead of lowercase can prevent a computer from unlocking. Accidentally pressing "reply all" can have a massive impact.

As Jews, we firmly believe that every action and choice holds spiritual significance.

Our prayers and Shabbat candles have the power to protect and uplift our brothers and sisters in the land of Israel. As women, we connect deeply with this idea. We often witness how our moods and attitudes can shift the entire atmosphere around us.

We understand that even a few words can change someone's day or even their life.

What we do matters.

Our actions make a tremendous difference.

In one moment, the world can be forever changed.

I invite you to embark on a journey of discovery as we explore the stories of seven biblical women who used one moment to change everything. In the upcoming Rosh Chodesh Society course titled "One WOW Moment," we will highlight seven pivotal moments in history where individuals faced a choice that made all the difference.
