A vintage & rare heirloom recipe from my Lolo Eli 👴🏽. It was from a short lived flavor in the 1970’s — one of the last flavors he concocted for the ORIGINAL San Miguel Magnolia ice cream. Our version includes barako ice cream topped with housemade stewed mangosteen preserves and pastillas-whipped cream. We have a VERY limited amount.

It blends the key elements of the traditional Thai dessert: sweet rice, slightly salty coconut cream, and ripe Alphonso mango. Some are even shocked (after eating it for years) to learn it’s completely dairy free & vegan.
Learn the secrets to this famous ice cream flavor this Saturday at the Williams Sonoma in Costa Mesa (and next month at the Thousand Oals location). We will be making a batch live, serving up freshly spun scoops, and signing our cookbook which contains over 80 recipes of Wanderlust Creamery’s fan favorite flavors.

I’ll never forget, as a kid, picking up a random dusty old cookbook at a garage sale. It kickstarted my lifelong obsession with food — one that would span multiple phases and eventually lead me to creating ice cream flavors at Wanderlust Creamery. Every step and turn of that journey has brought me back, full circle, to where it all began: a cookbook…but this time, one that I wrote myself. (🤯😭)
In it, you’ll find the recipes to our most famous flavors like vegan Sticky Rice Mango, Ube Malted Crunch, and Japanese Neapolitan to discontinued cult favorites that customers beg us to bring back like Pretzel Rúgbrauð, Violet Marshmallow, and our viral White Rabbit ice cream. The book not only delves into the science of ice cream (for those interested), but it’s also packed with straightforward recipes and insider hacks we’ve picked up over ten years of making ice cream, so you can effortlessly replicate our flavors precisely in your own kitchen. And, as expected, it’s filled with whimsical and colorful ice cream imagery.
