Here is an invaluable chart of many schematic symbols that I have used and still using since all I do is restore vintage audio. I remember the store that gave these out for free. Sadly the company is long gone as well as Eico is long gone. Aka Electronic Instrument Company of New York . Who ever though 60 years later it would increase in value.

Look what popped up. An old episode of storage wars from over 10 years ago. Someone posted it on Facebook. That was my previous location. Amazing. I remember it well!

An Audio Research power amp. About 60 watts per channel. Still gives off enough heat to be a room heater for a small room in the winter. Built in the USA.

Under the hood of this Marantz Model 18 receiver. Circa 1969. Hand built and wired in Woodside New York. Sadly built quality like this will not be repeated.🥲

My Fiftieth High School reunion is coming up. Looking forward to it as well being very grateful that I am achieving this milestone in my life. Sadly my late dear sister was unable to attend hers.

As promised still shots of the boat anchor amplifiers brought in for repairs. Remember these are mono amplifiers. Two of them must be used for stereo.

Here we have a super rare valve from England. Super popular in the 1950’s and 60’s The number is 5AR4/GZ34. It is a power supply rectifier tube. What makes it so rare is that it has the metal base. Starting in the 1960’s the manufactures of that time switched to a bakelite base as it is cheaper. The metal base dissipates the heat much better. Another rare item to show of superb quality that is skating away on thin ice of a new day.

American 🇺🇸 manufactured power amplifier from McIntosh Labs in upstate New York. A much desired 50 watts per channel amplifier. The wood case that houses weighs more than many units today. Manufactured in the early to mid 70’s. Nice big power letters and a very heavy amplifier. Do not let it’s physical size fool you. A solid state amplifier. Almost bullet proof. It survived shipping damage. Front glass shattered. Front controls broken and more. Waiting for it to go back to its owner. Frame was also torqued. Came out real well. Model number is MC 2505.

A very clean Thorens vintage turntable from the eighties restored and brought back to life. So clean and nice to see and listen to! Made in Switzerland and Germany.

What is waiting to be repaired , restored, and coming back to life in a typical day here.

This is just the front of the store! We are working as quickly and as humanly possible while maintaining our high standards on doing the job correctly and thoroughly. We operate on old school standards and principles. “If you think a good technician is expensive, try a bad one”.

Here we have a Benjamin Miracord record changer from the mid 70’s. Made in Germany 🇩🇪 with that precision. This one has a deluxe base. Plays four speeds. We restored this one and as one of the pictures shows , we installed high grade RCA connectors as per the customer’s wishes. Another one brought back to life . Ready to spin. It has a built in strobe with the ability to change the pitch slightly while playing a record. Another heavy player. It makes a statement when playing.

Here we have a record changer aka a stacking playlist. Circa 1960 through 1962. Manufactured in England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 by Garrard. Considered then the high end record changer of the day. Look at the bottom of that Rube Goldberg project. Customer pulled the unit out of his cabinet. That is why there is no base to it. Very commonly done in those days. We totally brought it back to life . Spinning like it is 1962. The model of this unit is Type A MkII. Truly vintage, heavy , and clanky sounding in its operation. And that’s the way it was.

Reposting the pictures of the Kenwood KR-9600 receiver. Hope these are better shots. Take me home please😊👍

Here we have the much sought after and desired Marantz 2275 Vintage receiver. Made in Japan from the mid 70’s. Puts out at least 75 watts per channel at 8 ohms. Another heavy beast. This one has a wood cabinet. It is going back to the customer. Has that Marantz blue light special. When these units were new, does anyone know if the wood cabinet was an option to buy or included with the purchase price. Text me and I will answer the question. Unit was totally gone over.

Here we have a before and after shots of a late 70’s Vintage Kenwood Receiver made in Japan. A 70 pound receiver. It came in looking like it was sitting outside for years. It was not dirty. It was filthy. Got it going perfectly. Puts out about 170 watts per channel at 8 ohms. Has two phono inputs for the vinyl ju**ie. It is available to go home. Message me if interested. Two people should carry this unit home.

Photos from The Audio Specialist's post 01/17/2023

Here we have a totally repaired Audio Research VM220 power amp. Notice only two transformers. 200 watts this amp puts out. You two of these for Stereo reproduction. The amp is more bulky to carry than heavy. Built in Minnesota USA. Standard amount of 6550 output tubes used. You need a dedicated outlet to power this properly. On the upside, with all that heat , who needs a heater. My hands have been enjoying the heat from the tubes. It’s good for my arthritis. Such is the joy in repairing these bottle amplifiers.

With all the pictures that I have posted and will be posting as time marches on, I can not thank my dear late father enough for all the guidance , encouragement, support, and many other things that he has taught me and shown me that only a true father can do. A pioneer in the audio industry. Here my father is working at the David Bogen Company in Paramus New Jersey circa 1957. Thanks to my Parents and Harman Kardon for deciding to go west to California when it was the Golden State. More Stories to follow in the future. Stay tuned!
