: Youth Stories 4 Our Time
My face mask has quickly become an essential for me, like water or air. Without it I can't go anywhere and no one can get near me. I know it's for safety, but every time i wear it, I feel like I'm suffocating. It’s become so familiar, this mask seems to have become my best friend and also my worst enemy.

: Youth Stories 4 Our Time
There’s nothing in between us
Yet touch is forbidden
I reach out
But you stay away
It’s for our own good
Isolation
Away from all things
My mind state drifting away
Slowly, but perpetually
Quiet
Everything so quiet
Empty
Everywhere so empty
I can hear my breath
The tempo of my heart
My rhythmic footsteps
I bask in the beauty
And yet there's so much pain
Thousands dead, thousands separated
Bodies
Corpses
Turn them to ash
The plague, our demise
Fear in the eyes of the masses
Death is a misstep away
Virulent Scourge

The house feels really empty at night, everything is dark and quiet, but safe.
I walk around my house full of things but no people, all the furniture seems to have a heartbeat, the candle lights dance when I walk past them, the windows look at me and give me a warm smile. I sit in my living room watching the night fade away, the furniture goes still, the candle lights die, the windows are cold.

I have always felt stuck,
My mind has been my prison for years.
And I always want to escape.
So I run around,
keeping busy to avoid the pain.
Now I can’t do those things.
I’m left alone drowning with all the
voices inside my head.

my life has been monochrome lately, black and white is all i see. the news scares me to death. my parents are worried that we won’t be able to pay rent or put food on the table. my sister and i are bored out of our minds.
i haven’t had much color in my life these past couple of weeks, i’m scared. i don’t want the color to fade out of the this world. we need color to survive. we need to feel the sensation of happiness and warmth, the sun beaming down on our faces, gravity pulling our feet down and connecting us with the earth, as if we are the center of the universe. not until then, do we feel whole, complete. i miss that feeling. i would do anything to feel that again - even for one second.

Dear Venice Arts Family,
A brief update to let you know what we are doing to support young people at Venice Arts.
A shout-out to those of you—including some of our former staff and artist-mentors—who have reached out to mentor and teach online. Thank you! You are inspiring! And to those who have continued to donate, countless thanks!
This is such a hard time for us to ask, but it is such a critical time to receive. Please support our programs, here: http://ow.ly/liW550z2QeE
This year, you'll receive a tax credit for any giving up to $300, even if you don't itemize. What do your dollars support?
Plan A: An exceptional, in-person Summer Media Arts Camp, completely free to low-income families.
Plan B: Creative activities offered in small groups and online, that will keep young people connected, excited, and engaged.
Plus, we are working to expand the services that we provide enrolled families—during this time and in the future—including increasing the number of cameras and computers on-loan to our students, and assuring access to healthy food, micro-loans and grants, and other opportunities that will help families thrive.
Now. More than ever. Young people need creative opportunities for learning, social connection with their peers, emotional support, and hope for the future. Thank you for any help that you can provide.
