Each year for Grand Reunion, a handful of alumni volunteer for their class committees and make it a success. As they prepare for one of the biggest events of the year, we asked this year’s committee why they’re excited! Here’s what Jenny Bullen ‘99 had to say: LMU has had a huge impact on my life. The importance of developing the whole person, beyond just the classroom. Building relationships, taking on new challenges, having a heart of service in the community, seeing and respecting the perspectives of others, always striving to be a well-rounded individual that actively contributes to society. The class of 1999 is still going strong! Yes, it was 25 years ago, but it feels like yesterday as so many of us are still close. While we’ve all “grown up,” have moved many places, have had kids, careers.... the list goes on... LMU created a bond that will definitely last a lifetime!

1974: The year Barbara Streisand hit the top of the charts with "The Way We Were"; Elton John’s “Bennie and the Jets” soon followed. Denim bell bottoms were still in-style, and no one could say otherwise. 1974 was also the year LMU celebrated its first graduating class since the Loyola University and Marymount College merger.
The countdown to LMU Grand Reunion begins! We can’t wait to welcome you back on Saturday, June 8, 2024 and induct the Class of 1974 into the Golden Lions. Here’s to celebrating, reconnecting, reminiscing and make new memories: https://bit.ly/4aFpfjq

What does it mean to ignite a brighter world?

For Heather Collins, M.S., ’95, it looks like ensuring water sustainability for 6 counties across Southern California. With her Civil Engineering degree from LMU, Collins committed her knowledge and expertise to serving the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, overseeing the Metropolitan’s Colorado River Aqueduct as the Assistant Chief of Operations. As the incoming President-elect of the American Water Works Association (AWWA), an international non-profit focused on improving water quality and supply, Collins is focused on “ensuring water sustainability as we near the year 2050.”

Heather is Registered Civil Engineer and licensed Water Treatment Operator and a member of the Water Utility Council.
