A key component of Tirzah is sisterhood. We celebrate that sisters might just mean more than biological siblings but the women in our lives. Racheal talks about gaining connections with the right people. Sisters can come in the form of program leaders, mentors, co-workers, classmates, or neighbors.

Tirzah’s Global Leaders are strong, capable women. But more than that, they have hearts set on serving others. This servant leadership is a reflection of their deep faith which is lived out in tangible ways. Racheal Nteeba is an incredible example of someone living her life with purpose. She is the East Africa Regional Leader for Tirzah’s Emerging Leader Program (ELP). Last month Racheal traveled with Esme to Kenya as they met with a group of mentors in training. Read this month’s Tirzah’s Review (link in bio) to learn more about this sister and the impact of ELP in East Africa.
Thank you for empowering women around the world to RISE!
“Taking her by the hand he said to her, ‘Talitha cumi,’” which means, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.”
(Mark 5:41)
In Zimbabwe, where the economy is in decline and the education of girls is often undervalued, Violet is changing the hearts and minds of her community. Through the founding of Talitha Cumi, she ministers to young girls and provides for their education. Violet also collaborates with local churches, helping them to embrace God’s heart for women as valued, loved, and capable contributors to society.
As a Tirzah Global Leader, Violet also hosts small business training, equipping women in rural areas with the skills to establish their own income sources and empowering them to RISE above societal expectations. Already she has had her first group graduate! One graduate has launched a honey production venture, while another has begun a brick manufacturing business. These women’s stories reflect the transformative influence of Tirzah’s Global Leaders.
Whether in her partnership with Tirzah’s Small-Business Initiative, or through her ministry Talitha Cumi, Violet’s story is a testament to her resilience and faith.
Learn more about Violet in this month’s newsletter.
Tirzah’s Emerging Leader Program (ELP) is one of our three core initiatives, providing exceptional development opportunities for women globally. Launched in 2020, our intensive 10-module curriculum is designed not just to teach leadership, but to cultivate leaders who follow the example of Jesus. Through a mentor/mentee model, participants are encouraged to discover their unique gifts and callings. The ELP is a transformative tool, preparing the next generation of women leaders. And we love how it is not only impacting mentees but mentors as well!
Did you know that Tirzah was one of the first Christian organizations equipping local female leaders to pursue justice and healing in their contexts? This tradition continues today as our network of Global Leaders implement three initiatives: small business training, leadership development, and sustainability efforts. Today’s foundation was laid decades ago under the leadership of Lorry Lutz.
Lorry was ahead of her time in looking to scripture to discover God’s heart for women. Her book Lessons in Leadership guides readers in discovering timeless truths taught in scripture about Christian women in church, home, and society. Lorry leads this exploration, providing insights and clarity on these issues.
We want to get this book in your hands!
For a donation of any amount, we will send you a copy of Lessons in Leadership written by “Tirzah’s grandma” Lorry Lutz.
If you have ever wondered what the Bible says about the roles and gifting of women, make a donation and we will send you a copy of Lessons in Leadership.
Thank you for supporting Tirzah’s network of Global Leaders as they empower women around the world RISE to their full, God-given potential.

Thank you for being part of a global movement that champions the dignity and potential of every girl and woman around the world! Tirzah’s community is empowering women around the globe to discover their potential and drive lasting change in their communities.
We are excited to share Tirzah International’s 2023 Impact Report, highlighting the impactful initiatives and successes made possible by our network.
Together, we’ve created opportunities for women to rise above adversity and lead transformational lives. Together, we are breaking cycles of poverty and oppression, and paving the way for a brighter, more equitable future.

Happy Mother’s Day to all our sisters around the world! This Mother’s Day we honor moms whose determination and strength inspire us. We are reminded of the profound love and sacrifice of mothers, and those who step in as moms, everywhere.
Tirzah truly is a world-wide network with sisters, leaders, and partners.
Last week some of Team Tirzah met in-person with our friends and partners, Get Hope Global (GHG). Their Tanzania leaders, Alex and Rehema, were in town (Denver). These leaders oversee training and implementation of GHG’s small business curriculum.
We are so grateful for friends who develop and share resources so women around the world can rise.

We are so encouraged by the young women going through the Emerging Leader Program who are stepping into their God-given potential and growing into the leaders of tomorrow.
This is Kimberly from Kenya. She shares, “Over the months that we have been under the mentorship, I’ve come to understand myself. This program is grounding me as I see people my age being taken by things of the world. When you look at Tirzah’s program, it is telling you that God does not call the equipped, you come and he is going to equip you. You go through the modules starting with “Who Is a Leader” and you get to understand yourself as a person. You get to grow. And that is something I forever am indebted to both Tirzah and my mentor pastor Josephine.”
This sharp young woman is a finance student with dreams of being a financial analyst in a local bank. She is already leading as the Secretary General of her university’s economics and finance team. Kimberly confidently states, “I see myself as being someone who is involved in the transformation of our economy. I see myself giving solutions in leadership and various factors.”
We’re cheering for you Kimberly!
Hello sisters or olá irmã!
Last weekend, Leadership Development Director Esme Bowers traveled to Angola to hold an Emerging Leader training with 124 women leaders from 18 denominations and 4 women’s groups in attendance! Each sister received a small gift including a printed copy of the “When Women Rise” devotional (recently translated to Portuguese!). Esme shared Tirzah’s history, explained what we do as an organization, and taught Module 3 from the ELP curriculum so they could get a taste of the program! Those interested in participating filled out an application. Our contacts (and talented translators) Palmira and Angelina will be conducting interviews to determine the very first ELP cohort in Angola!
Join us in praying for these sisters as they continue to engage with the Emerging Leader Program. To learn more about this partnership, visit the “Tirzah Travel Journal” and the post “A Dream 10 Years in the Making.”
Thank you to everyone who contributed funds for their conference gifts and materials!
There’s something special about sisters supporting sisters.
Tirzah stories of transformation are a constant source of inspiration. When women who have been marginalized meet Tirzah’s Global Leaders, opportunities to RISE are given. With determination, we see sisters fighting for different tomorrows. These stories are shared in newsletters and on social media but we want them to have a more permanent and accessible place to land. Today we’re launching the Tirzah Travel Journal. Grab a cup of coffee or tea and flip through our journal that shares stories of hope from around the world. Follow the link in our bio or simply go to tirzah.org/journal.
In the Old Testament, we find our namesake Tirzah and her sisters standing up and advocating for the rights of women. What could have been a moment of despair and loss turned into triumph and provision.
As we continue to walk through Holy Week, we sit in the layers of suffering. As we look forward to Easter, we anticipate the redemption and restoration that the resurrection brings.
All around us are stories of transformation and renewal. This week reminds us of our sisters who by embracing opportunities are being empowered to break poverty, rise above HIV/AIDS, extend their children’s education, conquer slavery, and prevent gender-based violence.
May you seek and find hope during this sacred week.
As we wrap up Women’s History Month, we honor the many women who have been trailblazers in empowering sisters globally!
The foundation of Tirzah as a global network of women leaders was brought together for the AD2000 Women’s Track under Lorry Lutz. Global Leaders like Reverend Judy Mbugua and Esme Bowers have been involved since these early days. This network of women leaders eventually became Tirzah International.
Tirzah is unique in its calling as one of the first Christian organizations aimed at equipping and empowering indigenous female leaders to pursue justice in their own contexts, helping their sisters rise in hope and dignity to achieve their God-given potential. While faith has been core to the organization, we stand alongside all women no matter their religious tradition.
Pictured:
Last year, Team Tirzah spent an afternoon with Lorry Lutz hearing about her newly-wed adventures in South Africa, her faithfulness in stepping into leadership opportunities, and her passion for her family and writing.
Will you pray for Tirzah’s Eastern Europe Global Leaders today? Zsuzsa and Gordana are both involved in various ministries that reach beyond their home cities in Serbia. These two invest in women as mentors, counselors, and ministry leaders. Between the two of them, they are overseeing four groups of young women going through the Emerging Leader Program.
Sisterhood—belonging—is something powerful.
Maurine is part of the Fadhili woman’s program in Nairobi, Kenya. This program through Tirzah’s partners, Homecare Fellowship, offers a safe place for women to rise above HIV/AIDS. She shares:
“I enrolled in the Homecare program because I desired to join a group where I would be understood in a non-judgmental environment. I am becoming strong, hopeful, and confident as I attend the meetings. Homecare has been a place where other understand these various challenges. I am grateful for this sisterhood.”
Tirzah has the most incredible network of supporters! Hearing from friends who come alongside Tirzah’s Global Leaders through prayer, travel, and finances is truly inspiring. David recently shared, “What I like is the amount of work that gets done, the impact for the amount of dollars is greater than what you would expect from the budget.”
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our International Women’s Day campaign. Today is the last day to give to and have your donation matched!
Where you are born should not determine your potential. As Tirzah’s Global Leaders reach women living in remote areas, new challenges arise. Help cover expenses like cell phone data and printing of materials for areas where the internet is not an option.

Hope is a mentee in Tirzah’s Emerging Leader Program in Tanzania. She shares, “I knew I had influence but never considered myself as a leader. Because of Tirzah, I am now confident that I am a leader. I never used to voice my thoughts and feelings, but in the Emerging Leader Program, the mentors showed us that everyone is valued and we all express ourselves. I have new friends and have come to realize that they speak out of love. We laugh and encourage each other and the mentors prune us to be the best versions of ourselves.
I am a changed person in terms of actions and thinking. I listen to others before I make a conclusion which was so hard for me prior to enrolling for this program.”
As one of the parts of the Tirzah network, our sisters are being empowered to rise above circumstances and change their futures. Whether it is small business training or the Emerging Leader Program, women are discovering their God-given potential.
You have two more days to take advantage of the International Women’s Day campaign match! Every gift, up to $25,000, is doubled. Thank you for helping young women like Hope rise.
