Goal setting accesses two unique human endowments: creative imagination and independent will. You use your creative imagination to visualize something different from what is. You use your independent will to transcend your past scripting and circumstances. Your will and discipline help you choose to focus your effort to make it real.
These two endowments provide the power of purposeful living.

During the Black Belt Ground Rules meeting and the start of the Black Belt Candidate cycle each student receives a small plant which they are responsible to look after.
I am often asked why, especially during this time in the world where there is so much turmoil, raising a plant is so important and what does it have to do with earning one's Black Belt.
"The people who cause and support the turmoil are often those who never learned how to grow a plant or practice compassion." I tell them.

I have been doing martial arts for over a decade, and from my first day at Team Karate Centers 3 years ago I knew that this studio would be a forever home. Sensei Fariborz perfectly embodies what it means to be a leader, teacher, sensei, and friend. He has created the perfect atmosphere in his studio where people of all ages, races, and genders can come and feel welcomed, appreciated, and strong. All of his teachers and students are so kind and respectful, and truly understand what it means to be both warriors and human beings. My first class I met students and instructors that will be lifelong friends of mine, and that is all thanks to TKC and sensei Fariborz. This curriculum is the most all-encompassing and thorough teaching I have ever been a part of. Karate, Boxing, Kickboxing, Hapkido, Aikido, Silat, Savate, Arnis, grappling, weapons, holds, armbars, fitness classes, strength training, cardio and stamina training, amazing guest seminars. If you want to try martial arts and learn from the best martial artists in the country-- do not wait any longer.
Thank you for all the Google reviews ...
2022 TKC Black Belt Qualification Exam
What’s the lesson here?
Could we be killing ourselves, literally, by allowing our poisons to grow within us?
By carrying years of guilt, jealousy, resentment and bu****it?
By our past mistakes?
Are we drinking the tea full of poison hoping the other person die?
Stop this non-sense.
Just stop.
I Remember Being A White Belt
I tied on my first belt, my white belt when i was 16 years old at Steve Sexton's Hapkido school in Canoga Park, CA.
I worked a local restaurant as a busboy to pay for my own lessons and I had some left over to buy a uniform and the belt came with it.
On the day I got my uniform , one of the teachers, John Felperin, sat me down and showed me how I was supposed to fold it after class; the belt looped around the folded uniform making a nice handle to carry it over my shoulder.
It's been many years since that day and sometimes I still kneel down at the end of the day and carefully fold my uniform like I was taught to.
Everything's the same except I don't get up and down from the floor as fast I used to, and my belt is black and threadbare.
Being a white belt was about standing in the last line at the back of the class.
Everything was new and I didn't know what I could or couldn't do.
Everything felt like a secret; I felt like i was studying something important, that the stances and the basics and all the techniques were gonna make me powerful and different and valuable and capable.
And you know what? They did. Yeah, it worked!
Every kid should be a white belt at least once.
I wanted to learn; I wanted to grow and that belt made me hungry.
It make me practice and learn and strive.
Looking back, the martial arts has been one of my best friends and teachers; and while I've had innumerable experiences over the last almost 4 decades of training, my best day, my favorite day, was the day I took that new white belt and tied it on.
For this kid it was the day I started this amazing journey and whenever I see some young person tie on his or her first belt I think to myself, "Oh man, you are so lucky, so fortunate" and I always go out of my way to make sure they have a good experience.
Parents, if you're looking for a gift to give your child; something they might use for, oh say, about 40 years or so,
consider a plain white belt.
