Karpatok Hungarian Dance Ensemble

Another succesful tour to San Diego is in the books. We had a fun time getting to the festival held in Balboa Park by the SD Hungarian House and loved entertaining the audience.

We like good birthday parties! We celebrated Hungary’s twice in Los Angeles last weekend. Come see us perform this coming Sunday in San Diego!

After the Soviet Union's invasion of Afghanistan and the US boycott of the 1980 Olympics in Moscow, the Soviets along with other Eastern bloc countries boycotted the 1984 Games in Los Angeles. Among them was Hungary but the organizers invited the local Hungarians to participate in the opening ceremony. The 19 years old Karpatok Folk Ensemble was there in folk costumes. When the Olympics returns to LA in 2028 we will have our 63rd anniversary year.

7 years ago we had a gypsy workshop with the Hruz brothers of Dűvő banda and István Berecz. Next week we’ll share a stage with Istvan at the Hungarian Festival in Belmont.
